Planning My Destination Wedding... Help!

Hi everyone!

This is definitely the site I have been looking for to help with my destination wedding! I am so excited to have stumbled upon it when looking for ideas for our invitations.

My fiance and I are planning on getting married at the Excellence Playa Mujeres resort in Mexico next September and I have a million questions for any brides who have gone through the process, any help is appreciated!

So first thing's first....we have our travel agent all set and she is currently working with the resort to book our date. After that do I contact the wedding planner at the resort? I don't really know the whole order of everything yet since we are so early in our process. I am sure the planner at the resort has all my answers but I would love feedback from brides who have actually gone through this process.

Also, where do I find the process for getting married at the resort? We were thinking about doing the real ceremony there but after reading some things I am unsure.

I'll leave it at that for now!! Thanks for all who respond :)

I am also getting married at EPM. YAY! Which agency are you working with?

After my TA booked my date for me, she sent an email "introducing" me to the wedding coordinator. Then, the wedding coordinator sent me a bunch of files and said can contact her again 3 months before the wedding to start planning.

I've been assigned Laura.

First thing congrats!!!!

Now to all the planning. First you need to contact the hotel and see if your date is available. If you have done so read the contract thoroughly and review any outside vendor fees.

Second don't just jump on the first TA do some research and have different agencies contact the hotel and get rates. You would be surprise to see the difference in prices

Start looking for photographers and videographers.

picked a theme/colors

Did you pick your bridal party/

Save the dates, ***As soon as you get TA I would suggest sending that out so guest can start making payments towards the trip.

WELCOME AND CONGRATS!

Congrats, welcome and happy planning! First thing to do is definitely contact the resort and book the date! The date we first wanted ended up being booked! It turned out better for the date we got but still those dates go early! Then you start thinking about photography and what is included in your package! All I've done so far is book the resort and photographer. I'm struggling to pick decor colors right now (no bridal party).

Congrats!

After I decided on a resort (between wedding packages from the resort and pricing thru the airlines), I then made sure they had availability for the wedding date I wanted -- when they said yes and I booked it, we then proceeded to book our travel packages.

Then I sent out invites.

Now I am doing all the fun stuff.

(invites, wedding website, colors, bridal party, favors, decor, extras, photography, phew!)

Definitely make sure to book your date with the resort. Once you pick a TA send save the dates out ASAP. Then begin doing your research of the resort (this should take place before booking and after).

I found planning easier when I sat down with my FI and we discussed what we want and don't want.

**** But first things first do not stress on things you can not change (guest attendance, attitudes, family, late RSVP cards and things being perfect).

Congrats and may you have a stress free planning.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
