A 'wicked' Engagement

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I joke that we're on the 'accelerated' path. He asked me to be exclusive after our first date, which probably should've scared me, but it didn't. Now I believe that when  you know, you just know. We moved in together after two months and started talking marriage a few months after that. We got engaged just over a week ago, and we've been together for about 10 months.

We've been planning our research trip to Mexico since January, and I knew a proposal would come before we got there. One day he asked me if I'd like to see the show Wicked, then told me he bought tickets. Now those tickets are very expensive, definately not a 'let's do this for no reason' type of purchase so I had my eyebrow raised that maybe this would be the day. But then the night before, he asked if I would mind if he invited his sister and her husband over for dessert the day of the show, so I figured I was wrong. Then I thought, if there's even a remote possibility, it would happen before the show was over. The show ended and no proposal. We were in the car driving home and I told him what a great day it was and how I didn't want it to end. I came really close to telling him that I thought he was going to propose that day, but kept the thought to myself.

We got home and he tells me to come into the backyard. I thought nothing of it. Then we got to the end of the driveway and I saw white lights and lanterns and his sister peeping out the back window. I knew then that this was it. There was a fire going and candles everywhere, and champagne on ice. I was shaking. We had talked about this for so long and now here we were. Immediately after the proposal, he told me he had another surprise - out popped our families and my best friend for an impromptu little party. It was the greatest night ever. Can't wait to marry him!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
