Clueless Canadian Bride

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am planning a destination wedding in Mexico for end of April 2015. That's pretty much as far as I've gotten with the wedding planning. I got engaged last week and i'm already stressing on how to start this process. I want to give my guests as much notice as possible so that they cant start saving.

I live in Kitchener, Ontario and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good travel agent that they trust? Also, I have family that would be flying from different countries, has anyone gone about planning something like this? I have about 5 people flying from Guatemala and about 6 flying from the US. It would be nice to get an idea of the logistics of how this would work.

Thank you in advance to anyone who replies, any and all information is appreciated!

Welcome!! A few of us Canadian girls have been THRILLED with the service level and help that our TA laurielee rosser (laurielee.ca) has been. She has amazing relationships with both the resorts themselves as well as the tour operators that handle AI travel in Canada. She managed to get me amazing pricing nearly 2 yrs out while other Ta's were saying pricing wasn't available yet... All due to her relationships. I strongly reccomend calling or emailing her and asking her for help. She specializes in destination weddings and has been a God send! She set up pricing for my Canadian guests as well as several family members located from Hawaii, Korea and Texas!

Welcome!! My recommendation will be get a wedding planner, I've contacted a couple for my wedding in PV and they sure know what to do. Mine is wonderful and truly guides me, I haven't decided in a villa or hotel yet but I noticed even hotels have their own wedding planners. They're a most, in my opinion.

I am also a future Canadian bride for 2016. I am looking into Mexico as the wedding destination but would like the assistance of a travel agent. I haven't seen it around the forums but does Wright Travel Agency work with Canadians? I will also have guests from the US. I contacted them through their web form yesterday but no response as of yet. Thought I would post here to see if anyone can let me know

I did ask about Wright doing arrangements for canadians and I was told that they can, but don't have the same access to the charter companies the way they do for the resorts through the US. Generally canadians go on all inclusive packages, which are much less common in the US. They're becoming much more popular from what I can see, but years ago my husband and I couldn't believe the number of US travellers that weren't on all inclusives.

There are different TAs that I've seen recommended here. The one that @@kmk2016 mentioned seems to be catching on for a few people so I think worth a look. There are others that have had success with other agents so it seems to be a matter of preference. I used Marlin Travel when I got married but am doing preliminary info through Tripcentral.

I would suggest talking to a couple of them and see what kind of vibe you get and what works for you. Good luck!
