Hi Everyone,  I've been on the hunt for a resort in the Riviera Maya for the past two weeks and have been getting stressed because we can't settle on one.  I was so glad when I came across this site yesterday.  I have been reading everyones reviews for different resorts that we are considering.  I will probably be sending direct messages to people with questions.. I hope thats okay.

Congrats and welcome! You'll find a wealth of information here that should help you make a decison, and you'll find past and present brides are more than willing to share!

Do you have a travel agent yet? I see you're in the US. The owners of this site - Wright Travel are destination wedding specialists and have tons of experience with the various resort chains. They'll have information on special perks that might be available to groups at specific resorts as well, and can advise you on all the aspects of planning your wedding! I would highly recommend that you read some of the resort reviews and see what past brides have said about their experience with different resorts. That may help you narrow it down a little.

Good luck and happy planning!

Welcome to the forum SophiaS  you have come to the right place.  I agree with acw271011, a travel agent is good start and they can give you pros and cons of each hotel you prefer. then help you to narrowed it down.

Happy Planning

  • 3 weeks later...

Congrats!!!

I went with my fiance and visited 13 resorts..yes 13.

I think you should have clear many things like the budget that your guests can afford and also your budget, If you want to go for a better resort but it will be too expensive for your guests think of that for your honeymoon, now if that is not an issue then go with it. I ended choosing the Karisma chain after I realized how gorgeous they can put weddings together and their food is just amazing. Many and all resorts there are amazing, consider location and how new/old it is, the person who you would work with. My second choice was Dreams Tulum and my third was WOW Shaphire (Ramon is amazing)

Good Luck with your planning :)

I was also looking for venues for a vow renewal/ wedding in Riviera Maya in May 2015, but after I settled on a venue and was about to sign the contract we decided on Cabo (since airfare is cheaper and more convenient for our families) but you should check out El Cid Marina and Spa. The wedding coordinator responded quickly and answered all the questions I had. She was great and the resort/wedding packages were totally affordable and nice! Good luck!

Hi Sophia & everyone,

I am also a newbie bride getting married in May 2015.

We got engaged on Christmas in Tulum and loved it down there so much we want to get married there!

Like Sophia I am also having a hard time figuring out which resort to choose.

We stayed at Gran Bahia Principe Akumal in December and loved it!  I looked at their wedding packages and am not keen on the idea of having the reception at one of the restaurants while other hotel guests are also there so we have ruled it out..

I have been doing lots of research but there's so many nice resorts it's really hard choosing one (especially if you are indecisive like me, lol)

If anyone has any suggestions please do share! :)

Hello Lalachka,

its really interesting to see most of our Canadian brides, love the Grand Bahia hotel , but surprisingly they have their wedding at off resort locations.

this maybe something to consider depending on your budget.

Happy Planning

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
