Hi brides!

So question for all the brides in here...

If you are doing a plated dinner and paying 100 bucks per head for 3 course meal and open bar, would you be happy with your guests ONLY being aloud to ALL choose steak or ALL choose salmon?

I feel that it is horrible. I LOVE steak and salmon but some people can not eat red meat others don't care for fish.

And every reception with a plated dinner I attended offered 2 options for a protein.

I even offered to hand in total head count a month or greater ahead of time.

But to tell me I have to select all steak or all salmon is absurd in my opinion.

Like I said it includes alcohol a salad, main course. And dessert ( thAt I don't even want but can not change)

Would you settle?

The whole reason why I picked a private venue is because I wanted more options.

I'm working with Grand Coral btw.

But I might have to weigh my options...

Thoughts?

Thank you SO much.

If you are not having your reception at a hotel please tell me where you are having it and what choices/prices you were given!

I was given 500 rental fee and 1276 pesos per head! Even the kids who are not drinking and don't care for the first course etc.

I want everyone to feel welcomed. And not having to turn their plates

You can rent the facility for 2000 but I am pretty sure the menus they offer are preset and you have 4 choices.

Thanks for reading!

I am only given 1 choice as well, but it's less than half what you are paying [4 course with salad soup main and dessert] and private 4 hours reception.

I personally would look around before committing. That's a lot per plate to be so limited

Thank you @@marinah84 for taking time out to reply.

I thought the same too. I especially can't believe they are telling me that those who are not drinking alcohol ( people ages 1-17 ) are still at the same rate.

I might look elsewhere. It's really sad bc I had almost all details in place.

Where are you going?

Do you know anything about kool beach club?

Thank you !!

I've booked the Crown Club Paradise Cancun (more info in my planning thread here on why: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/77321-marinah84s-planning-thread-31415-crown-paradise-club-cancun/)

I've not heard about Kool Beach Club personally.  I'd check out all the resort reviews and see what people recommend.  For my resort, if you have less than 40 guests, you can do dinner in a restaurant without an additional fee.  I'm planning on doing the private reception because I think it'll be more fun, and it's not too much per person.

I actually sent an email last night to my WC about the kids cost & if they "count" as a guest.  I have 2 kids for sure coming (mine lol), and I don't think anyone else will be bringing theirs, but you never know!  Thanks for the question to ask ;)

Yes def check to see what the head counts are for children and if they will be priced at the adult rate.

I'd like to know the answer! :)

I informed my WC, iweddings of Mexico that it just was not going down like that but am waiting to hear their final response.

Oh the joys of planning a destination wedding! I need a shot of tequila! Ha.

Let me know what they say about the kids...

She told me that kids 2 & under are free for the reception, and kids 3+ are half price!  Which is awesome, because my son will be under 2 and daughter under 4, haha.

Hopefully they will flex - that's just insane!!  I could use a tequila shot as well, but that's work related (versus wedding haha).

Good luck!!

Are you serious?! That is great !

So here's the scoop. They want to charge me like 25 to give kids chicken fingers and fries(which I don't want to serve)

So I have to get approval to bring something else for them.

If anyone wants food but is not of age to consume alcohol which for me is like 1/2 of my guests ( family only wedding)

Then I have to pay full price which is 100 per head.

Complete bullshit. But it's whatever.

They are offering canapés with the meal chicken, tuna, and salmon. I think I need more variety such as fresh fruit or some veggies etc and I have to get permission to supply them myself.

This makes me want to host the reception myself at a villa. Blah. Haha

Omg lol I can't take this anymore! So months ago I emailed and spoke on the phone to grand corals wedding coordinator, their manager and the chef. In black in white all 3 of them knew my wedding date, guest count. They confirm date send me contract. I in the meantime hire a wedding coordinator who wants to add a few details ( I totally agree with her) before we sign. Yes you could say the painfully boring and obvious comment " if you didn't sign yet things can change". Duh it 2014 I'm not naive I get I hadn't signed. BUT yesterday I get an email from my WC stating their menu has totally changed for 2015 as does their rates. And it affects me too.

So she send me over their new 2015 info which they created a long time after they had all (grand coral) emailed me and told me what they could offer. I feel that because their new menu and rules pricing wasn't in affect when they quoted me and held my wedding date that they need to honor that regardless of what they changed it to after we spoke! I also feel like my WC shouldn't just see their new menu and automatically tell me that it applies to me without contacting grand coral and bringing to attention the emails I have and the quotes about my wedding have already been done way before their new changes. I'm a little annoyed bc I had to put my foot down about being able to have 2 menu selections, and then after putting my foot down for the kids I hear oh ya you can get a rate of 60 dollars a head instead of 100. I would like to know where the issues lie. Not blaming anyone but it goes back that there is no better wedding coordinator than the bride herself even though I do really like my WC and am happy to have them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
