Hi everyone,

I'm expecting 120-150 guests for my wedding. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for resorts that would work well for a large group and would still keep costs reasonable. I am hoping to have a private banquet hall reception with the party lasting til 2am or so.

A lot of the "complementary" options won't work since I would like a private reception.

I initially was looking at the Dreams or Barcelo resorts, but they charge a lot per person for ceremony set up, meals, alcohol, extending the reception, etc. The Palace resorts offer unlimited events (since I will have a lot more than 75 nights!) but reading reviews I keep hearing Palace tends to nickel and dime you. I am leaning towards Moon Palace right now but I would love to hear others' opinions or recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

I think if you are going to have a large wedding sometimes the All Inclusives that are a bit smaller are able to provide more personalized service and often are more open to negotiate with you and look at you as a person not just another wedding out of thousands. Also, in some of the super huge hotels it can be hard to find each other during the day, a small hotel will give you the feeling of almost that your group owns the place so to speak haha. More fun that way.

If you`d like to get in touch with me I can provide you some more details. You will definitely need a hotel willing to pay special attention to detail for a group that size.

Happy Planning!

Congratulations on your engagement!

I am getting married at Moon Palace in August and have between 70 and 80 guests attending. so far the planning portion has not been the best so be forewarned.

That being said with that amount of guests you are expecting i think Moon Palace would be the most accommodating.

Thanks! Any particular resort recommendations?

karisma properties can handle this size of group... Aside from Azul Beach. They would be a great option to look into!

In short, I have done similar research

Grab Caribe Real
Moon Palace Cancun
Dreams Tulum
Grand Pallidium Kantenah
Barcelo Maya Palace
Riu Palace Rivera Maya
Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya
Valentin Imperial Maya
Xcaret Park
Amarte Maroma Beach (not all inclusive)

Hope this helps!

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm doing research right now. Thanks for all of re helpful suggestions!

Hello Ladies,

Another hotel to consider , that really offers a lot is Hacienda Tres Rios. packages are so worth it and the accommodation too.

Goodluck and happy planning!

Haven't heard of that one yet. Will definitely have to check it out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
