I was just wondering what "traditions" or special touches you were adding to your ceremony?

So far, I have a sixpence and a "something blue" personalized wedding dress label, both ordered from etsy.

My mom passed away when I was 15 (a very, very long time ago! lol) and even though it was a second time around in Jamaica, I pinned a peice of her jewellery that I have to my bouquet. It was my something old, and my something blue as well as a "memory" piece. I wanted the sixpence, but I wore sandals so it didn't work.

I'm going to do something old, new, borrowed and blue.... My mum passed away when I was a toddler, and I recently found her wedding dress, when we were clearing out my Dad's house. I'll be using little flower embellishments from her dress, and attaching them to a sash from my dress, so that's old and borrowed covered.

My dress will be my 'new', still have to get blue..... I'm also attaching a photo charm to my bouquet, with photos of my Mum and Dad.

Also thinking about having little bells, its an Irish tradition, its supposed to ward away evil spirits, restore harmony, and remind us of our wedding vows. Not sure how to do this one.... but it sounds fun!! :-)

  • 2 weeks later...

I am doing my wedding jewelry as my something new, I have " i do" blue stickers for the bottom of my shoes, my something old is a rosary my grandmother gave (she has passed) and I hope to incorporate it in my bouquet. I'm still working on something borrowed :/

I'm planning on wrapping a blue set of rosary beads around my bouquet (old and blue) and borrowing a miraculous medal from my Mum. We aren't having a Catholic ceremony so I like that I'll have that touch. My dress will be new! I don't think I'll do the sixpence - doesn't that feel uncomfortable?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
