Guests Not Booking Through Travel Agent

Recommended Posts

I am having the same issue. I have one person book with her personal travel agent and another person is thinking about doing so as well. I like everything to be organized. My travel agent told me that if these people book elsewhere to make sure to send their names and their booking reference number to the resort once you send them the list of names.

I'm facing this issue as well; most people are booking through the TA but there's a few people who aren't. One family has racked up a substatial amount of travel points, so that's fine. But then there's a few other couples who are, well, bargain scavengers? Annoying for sure, FH has encouraged them (it's his relatives) to just go through the TA instead.

My FI doesn't want to give the 4 people (friends of his parents) who booked through another travel agent leaving the day after us wedding favours. We will be handing them out at the airport but since they haven't booked with us and won't be there he doesn't think they should get one, so everyone in our wedding group but them will have one so I kinda think it's mean even though they are annoying for going with another agent, what does everyone think?

Personally, I agree that I think it is 'mean'.   I am not sure I would use the word mean, but I think it's tacky.

Yes it is frustrating that they haven't booked with you, but you should still be happy they are attending your wedding regardless. Know what I mean?

How would you feel?   They are still dishing out a lot of money to go to your wedding, so to leave them out because they didn't book with you just seems so unfair.

Just my two cents.

I know for us, we have had several guests (my parents being the main ones) wondering if they should book through our TA. My dad has found cheaper prices than what my TA has quoted us for…but I simply told him what my TA said…"If someone finds better prices, send them to me and I am sure I can at least match that price". Then we all get some sort of discount, and we all will be in the same area of the resort going through the TA. @@Dreamteam17 I would give gift bags to everybody! I certainly would be very upset if I were your parents friends and everyone else got gift bags but me. Although I do understand the frustration of people not booking through your TA. (Because really, it makes more work for for the bride and groom to keep everything and everyone organized!)

We are booked through Sunwing for our package and most people have gone through our TA to book. A few are looking at alternative routes that are cheaper but involve a layover or two.  We had a deal for the first 30 people and thereafter it is has been as people request they get a new quote.  I haven't exactly been impressed with our TA but we are booked so nothing we can do about it now. Because a majority of us are all leaving from Vancouver, most people book through our TA as they all want to be on the flight with us as it will be a big party from the airport on!

@@Dreamteam17 - As for the welcome bags, I definitely think everyone that comes should get one.  We have a couple people flying out of different airports and some people flying on points that won't be with us, but they are still making the trek.

Hello!

We have a package through Sunwing, and none of our guests have been able to find a better price than our group rate, although many have tried!

We've had a few guests book their own flights, only to avoid travelling on Sunwing, which has a terrible reputation for travel delays.  I actually know a few pilots and flight attendants who work for Sunwing and they are apparently very understaffed and pretty much always have delays.

So some of our guests book Westjet flights to avoid the Sunwing problems, but they are spending a lot more to stay at the resort.

I was actually hoping to avoid using Sunwing, but the prices were so much better that in the end we decided to go with the lower price and cross our fingers it all works out!

So funny everyone's experience. I've never had a problem with Sunwing and actually prefer them. I've had problems with all other airlines. I wish we could have used Sunwing for our wedding but air Canada was the cheapest. Like you a cheaper price was never found so all booked with us :)

Edit; to be honest I've never really had major problems with any airline. Just the basics that everyone has with every airline.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
