I saw your picture of the legal ceremony on facebook. I love the idea of one blue nail :). Did you get your acrylics done before you left or at the resort?

I'm glad to hear that it was cool by the water. I'm hoping the same thing will happen for our wedding :). My dress is also satin but it only has one layer :)

I did them about a week before - it's one of the things I actually wish I had waited on!  I had to get them filled and one cracked nail fixed the morning of the wedding, and it was more expensive than getting them done (fills here are like $14!  It cost me $43 before tip!).  The fills also cracked - I don't know if that was due to me being hard on them, or the quality of the work done at the spa.  I would definitely recommend waiting, if you aren't worried about functioning with long nails.  I had them done pretty short, so I would have been fine doing day of!

Yeah I can't function with long nails aha so maybe I'll wait. I haven't decided if I want acrylic for the wedding or just a normal french manicure. I don't want to wreck my nails but oh, they look so pretty :)

I have a nail appointment booked on April 8th and I leave the 13th. Maybe it's too long before? I never get my nails done but wanted to for pictures and so they would look better than they do now. My god come to think of it I am all fake for this wedding...hahaha But a bride has to look gorge. on her wedding day.

Congratulations on making it official. Must be so exciting to be a Mrs. now.

One week before you go is ok, your growth won't be too horrendous!   Unless your nails grow at the speed of light.

I wore nails for years and did mine a week before we left too :)

I wouldn't recommend acrylic though, that is probably why Marina had so many issues. I would recommend some type of gel, there are a few different options.  Even shellac can hold up better.   Most salons won't even use acrylic anymore, well in Calgary anyways :) hehe

I almost want to say less than a week before you go. It depends too on how long you're there before your wedding. I would say try to time it so that it's no more than a week before your actual wedding date.

True - that's what I meant!  I went a bit more than a week because it had been 6 weeks after my last fill (was trying to save money) and I just couldn't take it anymore. I got my nails done on Sunday and then 1.5 weeks later I wed.

I find mine when I do shellac grow like CRAZY!!!!  I can generally get about 3 weeks from each one but you can see the growth and if I try and stretch it longer than that then you can really see!!

I had one done a week ago sunday and you can already see the bottom of the nail. Don't think I'll get 3 weeks out of this one. My only argument with the shellac is that it destroys your nails. I love it cuz it's nice and shiny and looks so pretty but the after effects suck.

The unfortunate part is that they all ruin your nails :(

When you use shellac are you using color or do you have them make colored tips?  I find when I do the gel you don't notice the growth as much because it's 'clear' but if it was blue or pink over the whole nail you could see it much much quicker.  haha did that make sense?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
