Thanks!  Those are great descriptions, and sound really good.  I'm guessing its the 3 leches, versus dulce de leche.  I'm all about sweet, so it could be a good option!

HORRIBLE UPDATE:

So before my workout last night, I was playing with the dog and throwing the toy.  I tripped and caught myself in a standing position, but heard a "pop" in my foot.  Turns out I have a fracture in my 5th metatarsal (little toe) and am in a walking shoe for probably 6 weeks.  GUESS WHAT HAPPENS IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS?!  I'm so upset :(  I'm trying to be optimistic as much as possible, of course.

The good thing is the pain should subside in 7-10 days, and the shoe is removable so I theoretically shouldn't be too worried about it, for the wedding itself.  The Monday excursion may be an issue, and getting around the resort a lot.  I'll have to see if they have scooters and things, just in case.  I have an appointment on Friday with the surgeon, to make sure it doesn't require surgery.  Until then, I am chugging ibuprofen/icing it and elevating it as much as possible.  Heal, heal, heal!

Oh no! That definitely isn't good. You have my sympathathy for sure!! Not to worry you, but I did almost the exact thing, only 2nd metatarsal (next to big toe) and I ended up in a walking cast for 17 weeks. It should have been pinned (found this out after the fact) but it never healed properly even after being in the cast that long. We went to Mexico after the cast was off and I still couldn't do the ruins at Coba. My husband climbed but I didn't.

Be very careful what you put on your feet. I know it's your baby toe but you could still affect how it heals. Yes - keep it elevated for sure and the ibuprofen will help the swelling.

Good luck!! You're getting so close now. I'm anxious to hear your report when you get back!!

Thank you so much, ladies, for all of the kind wishes!  It's starting to bruise now, and I'm doing my best to stay off of it.  I'm just thankful it wasn't worse!  I'm already able to walk slowly so that it doesn't look too bad, so I'm sure 2 more weeks will do wonders!  Found out the ortho only comes to this part of the state 2x a month, and so my appointment is the Friday before we leave, on the 6th!  If I do need surgery (which I doubt) I feel like it'll be halfway healed by then anyway haha.

Vistaprint

So I found a MAJOR error on the programs, lol.  Not only did it say that my bridesmaid was "friend of the groom", it said FIEND of the groom.  FIEND.  As in DEVIL.  I about DIED laughing when I saw that!

Luckily Groupon has a Vistaprint coupon right now for $27 for $70, so I went ahead and fixed the issue.  I got it printed on 1 side - it saved me $5 AND will allow me to do the fans, haha.  I'll glue them to the others already printed, with the stick in the middle.  It's what I was going to do initially, and now I can go ahead and do it.

I also got the door hangers printed on rack cards - it was harder to get to $70 than I thought it would be, haha, since I just did the order for the last bit.  I used a stock image of a beach and used an extra menu rack card to hole punch to see where the hole will lay.

I also got address labels for the thank you cards after we get back (had to get to that $70 haha).

I also got my self a few items, to make up the balance.  I got a beach bag to carry my stuff around, and a tshirt :)

Bag (I got the 2-toned larger bag):

Shirt:

I already got the FI a "Game Over" tshirt that I'm giving him, so I figured I needed a wedding themed shirt as well :)

Sand Ceremony
I asked my friend to do the reading at the ceremony - this is what I have so far (probably mostly "borrowed" from this forum, haha):

Marina and Greg,

As you stand beside the ocean, may your love always be as constant as the tide; waves flowing endlessly from the depths of the sea. Just as water is the eternal force of life, so is love. Love is the force that allows us to face fear and uncertainty with courage.

You have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings. But although you will be sharing one life, never forget that you are two separate people. Cherish and affirm your differences. Love each other. Keep your commitment primary. Together you will laugh and cry, be sick and well, be happy and angry, share and grow.

We will now celebrate Marina and Greg's union with a symbolic sand ceremony. (Pause)

Marina and Greg, today you are making a lasting commitment to share the rest of your lives with each other. This commitment is symbolized through the pouring and combining of these of these individual containers of sand. Each container represents the separate journeys you once were on. (B&G take turns pouring/layering sand) Each of you comes to this relationship with unique strengths, vulnerabilities, and histories. As individuals, you are beautiful people all on your own. Yet when the two of you are blended together, you form something even more beautiful. Those strengths can blossom and those vulnerabilities cared for. Each one holds its own unique beauty, strength, and character. They can stand on their own and be whole, without need of anything else.

However when these two are blended together they create and entirely new and extraordinarily more intricate entity, as symbolized by the new blended colour. (Both B&G pour sand together)

As the sand has blended together, your lives too are joined. Your once solitary journeys have become one of companionship, as you now set forth on a single path together into your future. Your friends and family are as one as well. You will now share those who are a part of your lives as you walk hand-in-hand. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual vases, so will the love and bond between the two of you render you inseparable.

Any suggestions on funny wording/changes?

I have been thinking about the sand ceremony vases, also, and didn't want to have to find a nice looking funnel and bring down vases to pour and have it spill, etc.  I saw this on pinterest and it got me thinking:

I have quite a few of these liquor pourers, so was looking for a bottle that would work.  I then had the brilliant idea to look at oil pourers (the things you put on your kitchen counters to pour olive oil)!  I ended up getting 2 for $6 at Walmart, and the holes are pretty big so the sand should pour great!  And if it doesn't, we can pull out the pourer and pour through the wider mouth!

If I finish everything else, I may decorate the bottles with the leftover wooden intials & raffia/ribbon.  Otherwise, I'm sure it's fine like this :)

Bridesmaid Gifts

So this is one area I went WAY over the top with this wedding, my gifts to my girls.  I've made them a little "wedding day survival" bag that includes some pampering items (will post pictures after I get them all packed!), in addition to the custom robe & other items I already got.

I added these new items I found out about in January, Jamberry Nail Wraps!  I LOVE them!  They last almost 2 weeks on my fingers (on my 4th manicure) and up to 6 weeks on the toes, go on natural or artificial nails, and come in over 300 designs!  You get at least 2 manis/2 pedis per sheet, and I have baby toes so I actually have enough for several more pedicures/accent nails too.

For the bridesmaids, I picked out designs to match my girl's personalities.  They don't have to wear them at the wedding, but can if they want to, especially if they don't want to pay for the nail salon.  All you need is a pair of scissors and a hair dryer to apply! I'm getting artificial nails this week or early next week (depends on if I can hobble to the salon or not, haha) and will have a wrap put on there to wear until my wedding.  I will have the nail salon at the resort do a fill on my nails the morning of the wedding, and apply a french manicure wrap so it'll last 2 more weeks!

They ship in the USA and Canada right now, and if you're interested, check out the designs.  There are about 100 designs expiring on Feb 28th, and a similar number of new designs starting March 1st.  Here's my site! http://marinarhianne.jamberrynails.net

You can also host online facebook parties, playing games & running specials, and earn free/discounted wraps!  I ended up earning 7 free wraps (including 2 exclusive wraps for hosting a party), 5 half off wraps and 25% off the rest of my order, just for hosting a party for my friends on Facebook.

Can you tell I'm excited about these, lol?  I'm horrible at doing my nails, and this is an easy (and inexpensive) way for me to have pretty nails, even with my kiddos and working out and typing on the computer all the time!

Which do you think I should apply for the pre-wedding festivities?

Atlantis - I adore how this fades from blue to green, my daughter calls them "mermaid" nails:

Everything Nice - This is one of my FAVORITES - the chevron is trendy, and it's so pretty too!

Champagne Toast and/or Sugar & Spice - I love this combo, but think they'd be nice alone too.  Champagne Toast is very classy/elegant, maybe for the ceremony?

These are the designs I got my bridesmaids - I think they'll LOVE them! :

Star Crossed - MOH

Seascape - my BFF

Turkish Delight - good friend

Navy Quatrefoil - FI's sister/groomsmaid

Ok. Sorry to sound like a total dork, but what are these? I looked on the site and I love some of the colours and patterns. They're totally cool. I pay to get my nails done but is this something I could do on my own?

Hahah, well he's going to have a nice surprise when he sees all the suitcases :P

I just followed your page on facebook! I really need to try these things :)

Me too! But I'm still not completely sure what they are! lol Sorry. I'm old! That's the only excuse I have.

They're like an instant manicure haha. They are almost like stickers, so you cut them to kind of fit your nail and you blow them a little with a blow drier and voila! You have instant nail polish with all these really sweet patterns. They also last much longer than regular polish (about 2 weeks) and you don't have to wait for them to dry like regular nail polish. Also, shellac lasts pretty long, but at least for me it destroys my nails for 4 months, so it's not worth it. These things don't ruin your natural nail :)

I do shellac and yeah, it totally ruins my nails. I do about 3 then i use Nailtiques to repair them for a couple of months and just do my own. But I hate it. I don't have the time or the patience and yes, I always end up ruining one finger! Or two. Or three.

I like the sound of these. How do you get them off? If there are no chemicals and they don't ruin your nails, what keeps them on and what makes them last?

Shellac doesn't ruin my nails that quickly but it does I agree. I used gel since November and just took them off - nails are trashed.

You heat them with your blow dryer and they get flexible. Then you attach them and apply pressure. Just ensure they aren't touching skin or cuticles so a good seal can be made. Then heat them to set. Worked good for me. One thing I learned is you can't have any overhang at the tip of your nail or they will lift. I used a manicure scissor to trim but I think nail cutters may work better.

Just heat again to take off.

Marina will have way more experience and tips than I. As I only used them once but it was way less daunting then I imagined.

I've used both nail polish remover & heated coconut oil to remove, and the oil works the best!  Here's a youtube explaining it:

What I like about the oil removal is that it moisturizes at the same time, haha!  I use those little flosser sticks to ease the separation.

Here's an application video with my favorite method ("baggie") - my first manicure took a little bit to get a hang of cutting them, but the last few have been pretty quick!

Update 3.1.2015

I finished the groom's bout today (it's the only one that still needed to be made).

Groom Bout

I also decorated the sand ceremony pourer...things.  No idea what to call them, since they aren't normal sand vases :)

I started off with just hot gluing the initials on, but it still looked a little plain.

Sand Ceremony Plain Initials

So I took the smallest spray painted starfish I had, and some leftover ribbon, and played around until i was happy.  I think it turned out pretty well!

Update 3.2.2015

Luggage

I went ahead and ordered 2 of these 33" rolling duffel bags to pack, just in case our 3 bigger suitcases weren't enough (well, that's what I told FI, I know they won't be lol).

$35, hot pink and easy to pick out of the checked luggage.  Plus, with prime shipping AND Amazon currently doing 3% back on luggage on fatwallet (if you don't use fatwallet to get $ back on online purchases, YOU SHOULD: http://www.fatwallet.com/?referral=hartmar),it just made sense.  I'm going to pack mostly our clothes in the duffels, and use the hard luggage for anything breakable.  I saw similar ones at Walmart last night for about the same price, but they were smaller & would have had taxes on top of the price.  So this was DEFINITELY the better deal.  Plus, Prime Shipping means they're here in 2 days, and I leave in 8!!!

Link to bags (they have other colors, like black & red, but the hot pink was cheapest lol): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003K4SQV8/

Bridesmaid Gifts

Here are the completed contents of my bridesmaid gifts!  These are in addition to the OOT bags they will be getting when we get there.  I will give them these the day of the wedding!

  • Customized Waffle Robe with Name/Initial in their color
  • Customized Hanger
  • Barefoot Sandal (for ceremony)
  • Crystal Earrings (they can wear for the ceremony if they want)
  • Jamberry Nail Wrap & Manicure Kit & Nail Polish Remover
  • Wedding Day Survival Kit - Face Wash, Cocoa Butter, Scope Mouthwash, Hairspray, Hand Sanitizer, Anti-diarrheal pills (lol)
  • "Be Safe" Kit - Condoms & Lube in Kiss Bag - will probably make a cute little poem to go with it (I got pregnant with my youngest 2 years ago in Cabo, haha, so they'll think it's funny)
  • Younique 3D Fiber Mascara
  • Blue Sunglasses (I'm keeping these in a bag with the ceremony stuff, I want them used for pictures!)

All but mascara:

Bridesmaid Gifts (1)

Robe/Earrings/Barefoot Sandals

Bridesmaid Gifts - robe, barefoot sandals, earrings

Jamberry Wraps/Kit

Bridesmaid Gifts - Nail kit

Toiletries

Bridesmaid Gifts - wedding day survival and "be safe" kit

Mascara

Bridesmaid Gifts - fiber mascara

Packing

I started packing, eep!  So far I've filled up 1 suitcase with "gifts" - OOT bags all fit in the top of one of the suitcases, and the bridesmaid/mother's gifts on the bottom.  I'm going to put the cups & shotglasses in another suitcase, since I want them in the box.  The only other thing to add is the welcome books for the bags, and I'll add those with the cups when we get there!

OOT bags in the top of a suitcase!

Packed OOT Bags (1)

Glasses (luckily all plastic lol) in a box, waiting for the next suitcase.

Packed Cups Shot Glasses

Wedding Attire

I opened my Wally bag I bought from another bride on here a long time ago (I probably should have opened it months ago lol) and it's amazing!!  The dress weighs almost 9lbs (weighed it this morning) and is poufy, so I don't think I'll be able to get a ton of other stuff in there.  But it'll be protected :)  I just have the dress, my shoes & the flower girl outfit in there right now.  It's so poufy, I want it to fold!

I am flying Southwest Airlines/AirTran, and am a little worried about them letting me take it on.  The good thing is that we're getting on a flight that connects in Chicago, so theoretically we'll be first to board the new plane too.  I don't know if they have closets to hang...if they do make me check it, it's double protected and the resort is going to steam it for me anyway.  If they lose it though...so we'll go with POSITIVE thoughts that I can take up a whole overhead compartment ;)

Back to packing!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
