Now Larimar - 2015

Recommended Posts

@@Alicia328 Congratulations on your engagement!!! We basically told our agent what we were looking for, what our budget is and what we wanted to keep the price at for our guests and they gave is some suggested places and we decided from there. There are sooooo many reviews online and every resort looks nice in the pictures on their website, so it was tough deciding. Luckily one of my bridesmaids had just gone to Now Larimar and loved it so that made me more comfortable picking this resort! This site has been so helpful & everyone is so nice! Good luck with your planning!

Thank you @kosrae89 and @@JYINGLI1 for your quick replies. My guests and I will be flying from Toronto, Canada, so I hope I can get prices similar to yours from here.

I'm so amazed at how helpful everyone is with answering questions. Thanks again!! :)

Congrats!!! The fact your are Canadian gives you better package options - ie our prices included airfare, resort, transfers and tax. I recommend finding a good travel agent who specializes in destination weddings to get you started.

I ended up with air Canada Vacations and with them we got a free package (minus taxes) for every 17th person booked and got a free upgrade to first class. Also our group

rate was always better than any price listed online :)

Our guests from Toronto to the Mayan are paying $1465 which is all inclusive in price for 7 nights.

Good luck.

Hi @kosrae89!

Your pictures are stunning!! How long in advance did you give music choices to the DJ?  Also, what did your menus look like?  Were you happy with them?  Congratulations on your beautiful wedding!

Christine

Thank you so much!!

We sent in our music choices for the DJ about 2 months before the wedding.

For the menus, we had a larger menu that we had printed framed and we put that on the guest book table for everyone to see when we walked in. We figured it saved a little money from printing a bunch of them and most people wouldn't care to take the menu home with them, so this way we had a keepsake to hang up and saved a little money. Although, the resort provided us with menus for everyone that we were not expecting. They weren't anything super fancy, but they were still nice and it was a nice touch for them to do. They were folded sheets of paper (slightly thicker than computer paper) with the menu items typed on them in English and Spanish. I am having trouble getting pictures to insert into the post, so I will just add them to the photo site with the wedding pictures so you can see what we had for our menu and what they gave us.

I've just confirmed my contract for Now 8.22.2015.

I am bummed that all that was available for the ceremony slot was 3:00pm. It seems too early for beach ceremony...

But, I am happy that I made my selection, have my site up and running for the guests to book, and now I can finally focus on the theme, and saving money!

So I travel to the DR throughout the year and November Thanksgiving week is expensive but after labor day through 2/3rd week of November is the winding down season... then it picks up for december holidays. Please note that because it is considered the low season, many resorts do their renovations, additions, construction and remodeling around this time. It is cyclical so, they do not do renovations every year, but just be mindful of this possibility.

Fall in the DR is beautiful. You should be able to get prices under $1500 if you do that hard leg work like Jamie said. Good luck.

Thank you soo much for your response!  I love your idea to bring a framed menu- what a great keepsake too!  Good to know they have individual menus too! Thanks for adding the pictures!  I will take a look.  :)  I so appreciate all of your advice and responses.  I am nervous as I just want everyone to have a great time, and have gotten some push back about having a destination wedding.  You have made me feel more at ease. :)

I am glad my responses have been helpful! I was definitely nervous before our trip too and I just wanted everyone to have a great time. And it really worked out great. We had so many different ages and personalities in our group, but everyone really had a wonderful time. We were able to do things as a group many nights, but everyone was also able to do their own things and everyone had an amazing time! I felt nervous about it until we got to the resort, but once we were all there, it was great! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
