Now Larimar - 2015

Recommended Posts

I am not a 2015 bride but we are getting married at this resort January 2016! We are super excited / nervous at the same time. We are lucky because my sister is having a destination wedding in May 2015 and hers will be my "practice" run.

Hey gals!

It's been a while since I've posted, but we're only a few months out and everything is becoming REAL!  We're May 1st, just under 50 people, fountain for ceremony/pool for reception and are trying to figure out a few things...

-DJ vs Ipod/speakers/mic?  Pros and cons?  I keep going back and forth about this...  And does anyone know if the DJ considered an outside vendor, so the prices listed in the planner + the 500$?

-Times for the day...  Our wedding is at 4:30pm, cocktail 5:30, reception 7-10 @ the pool...  Has anyone had any advice yet for what time hair appts should start (6 people), and has anyone thought about doing first look pictures ahead of the ceremony just to save a bit of time/focus on group and family pictures during cocktail hour - and if so, what time appts should start?

Thanks!!

Hi Dana Marie,

We getting married May 7th and following the same timing schedule as you! You're questions are good ones that I should be thinking about. I dont' have much advice on the hair appointments, but I did ask about the outside DJ. We are using DJ mannia and my WD said that we will only be charged the set-up fee for an outside DJ. There was no mention of the $500. This is the fee she gave me:

Hi Francina - I'm exploring all our options in order to save on wedding costs. Can you please tell me what fee I would be charged if we brought in an outside DJ who provided the following?

MC US$ 44.25

Professional DJ : US$188.55 ( for all detailed below)

DJ Booth

Sound System

Wireless Microphone

Robotic Lights

We are also considering doing the pictures before the ceremony to avoid rushing through them during the cocktail hour. I hope this helps!! We are staying May 3 - 10, so maybe we'll cross paths!!

Best of luck,

Jamie

If you are booking your salon appointments at the resort salon all you need to do is fill out the form 2-3 months out and tell them how many people you will have and what services they will be receiving and they will give you the times based on your ceremony time. My ceremony is Dec 19 at 4pm and I have 6 ladies doing hair and make up and they have 3 doing hair at 11am and 3 at 12pm and then 3 for makeup at 1pm and 3 at 2pm. They can only do 3 services at a time, so that's why they break it up like that.

I will be leaving for the DR this Sunday morning and will be there from the 14th-23rd. So if you guys have any specific questions or want pictures of areas of the resort or anything please let me know soon and I will be happy to post them along with details of my wedding when I get back! This blog has been so helpful to me and I would love to have the opportunity to help others the same way! :) So excited to be only a week away from the big day!

kosrae89,

That is awesome! I bet you're so excited. Any recommendations you can give when you get back would be much appreciated! Let me know who you photographer is and how you think they did. Also, if you happen to stop by the eclipse terrace can you take a few pictures from all the angles so I know what I"m working with. We are having our ceremony there!!

Thanks in advance and I wish you the best!! Enjoy!!

I too am only 2 months away from my wedding, and I think I am just beginning to freak out!! My wedding is on the beach and my reception is at carnival terrace since I am only having 31 guests.

I have a question about the photographers, who have you all went with? I am on a tight budget. And am trying to figure out what to do about wedding pictures?

@kosrae89 I can't wait to see your photos! I am sure it will be great.

Does anyone have any ideas on whether or not it is necessary to have music during the cocktail hour? Or is the setting and just conversation enough?

Also, does anyone  have any group activities planned for their guests? Like dinner the night before, booze cruise, brunch after the wedding?

Thanks.

Hi Ladies!  Hope you all are doing well.  I am getting married in May 2015, and recently did a site visit on December 15th.  The resort was beautiful, and Yeomandry was awesome!  However, I have some kind of a GI bug now.  My fiance has no symptoms at all, but I have all the symptoms of traveler's diarrhea.  Has anyone else gotten sick?  I am not sure if it was something I ate or drank, or a GI bug I have picked up back home. Thanks so much!

Christine

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
