Any Weight Watchers Members?

HI There,

I am starting Weight Watchers on Wed, June 18th. I am hoping to lose 20-25 in 5-6 months. I am hoping this is something I will stick to. Then when I lose I am hoping to just maintain it with My Fitness Pal or something. I find I need something that has some guidance and tracking of what I am eating.

Have any of you ladies tried this program? Have any success stories for inspiration?

I've looked at it many times and just haven't followed through. I have asked here at work if we could start a weight watchers at work deal since I'm sure I'm not the only one interested, but right now I need to wait until the fall. I'm working at just a little bit of weight before a hospital stay in september and I know some will come off then and through the recovery. I figure at that point I will push the weight watchers so that what comes off, stays off!!!

I would also be interested in hearing from anyone else that would recommend WW. I've heard so many success stories but I would really like to know what it's all about. Are there diets to follow? Is it regular food? I know there are points involved, but how does that work?

hi @@acw271011

There are points for all foods. The better you eat of course the lower the points are. You have so many points in a day to use according to what you weigh. Say you may have 25 points per day. Then you can eat what you want as long as you don't go over them points. When you join, you will get a book to go by with all the foods listed. Whatever is not listed you can go online and find a weight watchers calculator. I can't remember what they calculate but I think it's fat, fibre, and something else not sure what it is.

It's good because it teaches you to eat healthy if you want to eat more throughout the day as long as you don't go over the points.

Say if you eat a happy meal at mcdonald's then I think your points are pretty much used up for that day and can't eat anything else.

That's pretty much how it goes.

So have you actually joined? What did it cost? Do you do it online, or do you go to a meeting? That's the thing I don't think will work for me. I have a pretty stressful job with long hours so for me to try to be anywhere at a specific time during the week is almost impossible. Plus I already get up early enough in the morning so I'm not adding anything more to my mornings. I thought maybe we could do a lunch time thing at work. They at it at the law firm where I used to work and I'm kind of sorry I didn't investigate it then, but my hours (again) were goofy and I couldn't get it to fit with my schedule.

I haven't joined yet but I know what it's about mostly because of my friends that have joined. They have a meeting once a week where you go and they discuss their week and you get weighed in. You don't have to go to these meetings but for me I can see it being helpful. I don't want to get weighed in and only to have gained weight. Espcially with someone there standing over the scales with you...lol

I've looked into WW in the past too and I've had spurts of calorie counting, but I like food way too much so I usually get side tracked. I'd like to lose about 10-15lbs that I've gained over the last couple of years, but I can't bring myself to get on a scale and do regular weigh ins. I don't want to become obsessed with the number like I have in the past! I try to go more by how my clothes fit and how I look naked now haha. Trying to lean up though for my wedding and a week of bikinis, so i'll be following this thread!

I'm going to try and incorporate more regular exercise, and healthier eating (my downfall!)

I've used the My Fitness Pal in the past. It does work, but again, I found myself becoming obsessed with it, and I usually get lazy after a month or so to input everything. But it did work on keeping me in track, and I found I was working out more so I could have those extra exercise calories!

I used My Fitness Pal too but I tend to cheat saying "going over a few calories won't hurt". Then I get on the scales to find out I gained weight. I am hoping WW will motivate me because I don't want to be embarrassed when I go for my weigh in with the scales showing I gained weight. I am hoping that will help me. I am looking forward to it as well to go every week and hear tips from other members. You also have access to online once you are a member and have access to a lot of recipes. Right now I have no idea what to be cooking for dinner's. If it's fast it's usually unhealthy. Maybe they will have recipes with healthier choices but still good too.

I will post my progress on this too once I start.

Good luck, Kristy! Definitely keep us updated - I've always been curious about WW

My FI is a big health nut, and we try to eat as cleanly as possible (meaning no processed foods, mostly proteins and vegetables - Paleo-ish but without all the rules about stuff like legumes and dairy). We try not to eat a lot of starchy carbs or sugar, though he is a lot better than that than me. I'm not sure what your typical diet is, but if you find that you are eating a lot of "junk" and processed foods, even cooking whole foods and eliminating excess sugar and carbs will probably have good results in your weight and body composition!

Our issue is definitely alcohol and eating out - we try to rein it in, but hard at our age and with our friends! I love food and restaurants, so that's a big one for me. And of course with drinking, once you drink, the after drinking poutines and pizzas kill us!

I'm not a member but have snooped around and have thought of joining so many times....

I'm currently 117 (give or take) and I'm only 5 feet tall so for my height and frame this is a little "thick" for me.

I would like to be no more than 108 on my wedding date.

I have such a struggle losing 10lbs...

When I gain a couple of lbs I get so discouraged and depressed.

I'm trying to eat healthy and drink lots and lots of water...

Maybe I'll look into the WW program again :(

Well girls day one of weight watchers today. I will update every week when I get weighed in and let you know how much I lost or gained (hopefully not gained though).

The meeting went well. Got a lot of stuff. I packed up my big bottle of water this morning, pineapple, grapes, and my weight watchers lunch. So far so good.

If there is anyone else on a weight watchers plan, feel free to post your accomplishments every week.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
