Sandals Wedding & Guest Who Is A Photographer...

Recommended Posts

I would talk to your WC and see what can be done. Sandals has photography partners which are real photographers (not snapshots ones) but they are OUTRAGEOUS. Are you super locked into sandals? I know a lot if other resorts DO allow offsite photogs. Otherwise maybe you can see if you can get samples of some of the snapshots work

thanks. and yea, we're locked into sandals. we (and all the guests) put a deposit down for the week. i really like it there so i do want to stick with it.. just makes it hard with photography.

We just opted for the Beachfront concierge room in the Riviera building.. I like oceanview ;)

So I asked my wedding planner what the prices were for the "partner" photographers and was BLOWN AWAY.

For 4 hours of shooting and UP TO 200 edited images on a CD...

Anywheres from $2,800 to $4,250!! Holy crap..

Yup and the sad part is, once I picked my jaw up off the ground I emailed a few of them thru their websites and didn't tell them I was getting married at sandals and the prices were almost 2k cheaper so obv sandals is making lots of money anyways off these people! Crazy. The biggest problem with sandals is the photography. Just charge a vendor fee and let your guests bring whomever they want like other resorts!!

I hope you can find a option that works for you :(

Thanks - I did email one of them for their prices and one of their first questions was "where are you getting married?" I said I'm not sure yet lol and I'm still waiting on a price list.

I mean honestly, some of the differences between what the photog charges and what Sandals charges for them are close if not more than what it would cost to pay for 3 nights lol

After reading this post, I see the value in bringing your own photographer or certainly paying for an outsider.   I also like the idea of your photos being taken throughout the week.  Of all days, you want your pictures to be spectacular and not left to chance.

Thanks for this.

I tried this route but the photog I really wanted was willing to go but wanted a crazy amount of money plus all expenses paid. I don't think he quite realized how much a Sandals resort costs - even for just one night. It wouldn't have been a "vacation" for him since he would not be bringing his family.

So I'm just getting a very cheap Sandals photographer package - digital only for like $600 something - I can always add more photos if I like them. Plus, we have our family and friends who can take photos. I used to be obsessed with the photo thing, but it just stressed me out so I decided not to worry. If I need to come back home and get dressed back up for those "must have" shots, I can hire a photog home for way cheaper than usual since it would only be a couple hour photoshoot :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
