Cocktail Reception The Night Before Wedding

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about doing a welcome cocktail reception the night before our wedding, I'm thinking about just doing a simple one hour reception with drinks and a few apps.  Then all the guests can go where they want for dinner.

Is an hour too short?

The last destination wedding I went to they had an hour long cocktail hour after dinner with just drinks. It was nice and they were able to mingle a bit and give people any information they needed.

That sounds like a good idea! I was thinking of doing a rehearsal dinner the night before with just family and bridal and groom parties then having a cocktail hour afterwards to let everyone know the details. An hour should be fine, then people don't feel pressured to stay longer than they might want to!

I'm doing an hour long welcome cocktail party the night before the wedding. I think that is just long enough for everyone to mingle and get the info they need they do whatever they like for dinner while the bridal party does a quick rehearsal. I also didn't want to pay the resort to pass out my OOT bags so I am giving those out at the cocktail party as well.

I'm doing a dinner the night before, then will probably all go to a lounge area after. We can't really rehearse so not sure why it's called a rehearsal dinner by my wc lol

I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to do only an hour and at first I thought it seemed to short. I guess if everyone still wants to hang out we can all go have dinner together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
