SANDALS Bride??

Recommended Posts

Hi, We are thinking/planning on getting married at a Sandals resort. I've researched a lot about it...but am wondering if anyone who has already been there can give me some advice? What did you like, not like? Would you recommend the Sandals resorts? We are thinking Grande Ocho Rios, but are still deciding. And if you've been to this resort and stayed in the Romeo and Juliet sweet, was it worth it?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of Sandals brides on this site, how come??

Thank You!!

Hi Dedra! I think I'm the only SGOR bride on this forum currently. There were a couple of Sandals Villagio brides, but their weddings have already taken place. I'm happy to help you with anything I can, but I don't know how much of a resource I can be since I've never been to the resort (or Jamaica!).

I can share with you the reasons that I chose the resort sight unseen and we can compare notes if that would be helpful. Good luck with your planning!

Hey Dedra!

We booked the Plantation One BR Villa w/ Pool, but will most likely upgrade once we get there. We decided against paying the high fees upfront for the more expensive rooms (Romeo & Juliet), etc. and decided that we'd upgrade after the fact if we wanted a higher grade room. (The fact that neither of us has been to the resort yet also factored into this decision.)

Hey Dedra!

It really depends on what amenities you want for your room to include, where you want it to be located (near nightlife, the pools, tucked away in a lush garden section or an incredible view of the ocean. Do you want to sit on your balcony & hear the waves or do you want to just see them? Do you want to have a semi private pool only shared with 4-6 other couples or are you & hubby to be happier surrounding yourselves with lots of new friends?) & of course what your budget is!

I've heard lots of people say that they've gotten upgraded for free when they arrived. Does it happen a lot, or do some people just get lucky?

It would be great to just pay less and then possibly get upgraded! Or if we decide, when we get there, that we do want a different room we could always upgrade then.

That's what I'm banking on! Here's hoping! smile72.gif

  • 2 months later...

I'm also a Sandals bride. We decided a little different. Longer vacation, cheaper room. We went with 2 weeks in a St. Ann Planation Concierge Suite. Instead of going all out for a room we probably will never be in.

We looked into the honeymoon suites, but our travel agent told us that the honeymoon suites were all booked up!! One can still try and upgrade when they get there. But a lot will depend on when you are going.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
