Did Anyone Use Air Transat For Their Flights?

Recommended Posts

I flew air transat and Sunwing for vacations before.  I prefer Air Transat!  The plane was larger and there was more leg room (my fiance is 6'5 and I'm 5'10 so leg room is very important for us).  Also they had ipads attached to the seats with movies, tv shows, music, and games.  The service was good and so was the in flight meal too!  I definitely want to book my wedding with them.  I had a bad experience flying sunwing.  The plane was really small, the in flight meal was really small and not good, there was terrible leg room, the staff was rude, there was a movie with small screens during the flight.  I got caught in the ice storm during my vacation with sunwing and was stuck in Cuba for more than 40 hours.  There was no communication between sunwing on the Cuban side and the Canadian side.  They even forgot our flight!  I understand that the weather conditions were really bad, but Air Transat, Cubana air, and westjet were all able to leave on time and didn't have the same issues that us sunwing passengers had.

Hi All,

I was just checking flight prices and found a great deal with Air Transat. We are flying out of Pearson to Punta Cana in March 2015. The flight is about $75 cheaper than any other flights that day. My only concern is that I don't know much about Air Transat and am wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences using them? West Jet is the next cheapest flight that day, so does anyone have any experiences with West Jet?

Also, I found the flights on Trip Advisor, but when I look at the Air Transat website the flight details are slightly different, as in the flight times doesn't exactly match, only by a few minutes, but that seems odd to me. Did other people run into this while booking flight?!

I have only ever flow once before, so I'm very new to this and don't want to get screwed over with flights!

Thanks!

Hi! I have taken 3 All Inclusive vacation packages incl flights with Transat. The whole process was quick, professional and with no hitches. The travel agents that work IN the resorts were amazing and any excursions went off without a hitch.

Since it is our second time as a couple booking, they offered us 80.00 return for our advance seat selection and also bumped us into the Club package.

All great info! Just wondering if you ladies went with their TAs through airtransat or somewhere else?

I wanted to go with the TA, my fiancee wanted to compare to online bookings so we researched both, and weirdly enough, the rates we got online with Transat was something like $50.00 cheaper than by the TA. The main and only complication is having the guests coordinate or find their best flights/package. Lots of people will want to research to find the best deal, it is an expensive resort we are going to. I know that if everything was taken through a TA you would likely have an easier time of getting everything coordinated as well as a possible discount arranged, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, my wedding party is likely to be 6 people at most and therefore, not much of a group rate offered.

Hope this helps.

We just booked our wedding with Transat.. my TA said it is wonderful. The only thing is I have people flying from 3 different provinces and the Calgary people may have to arrive 2 days later if I absolutely cannot get around it. my TA is looking into it though. I have only flown sunwing before and I liked it but it wasn't the best. The seats and leg room were fairly tight and me and my FI are not tall people by any means. I also didn't like that there were only TV's every 3rd row but a lot of people bring ipads now with movies and show anyways.

I have never used Air Transat.

We chose Air Canada for price point, but my preferrence would have been to Sunwing for all the extra food and stuff you get on the flight! lol! I have used them twice (Cuba and Vegas) and enjoyed it.

At the end of the day EVERYONE has something bad to say about EVERY airline.  We just have to hope and pray when our time comes it goes off without a hitch.

I LOVE Air Transat - I've flown with them to the DR as well as Mexico.  I love that you get a meal and there is movies on the flight.  I also find it a relatively comfortable ride.

However - we got stuck with Westjet for our wedding party.  As of April next year Transat and Sunwing are ending direct flights to PC from Calgary (I don't know if this is seasonal or not).  So in order to use either of them we would have to book round trip tickets to YYZ on WJ or AC and then pay for the trip south.  Too complicated, and too expensive.  So with WJ at least we could book indirect flights on a package cost.

Makes me sad - because I LOVE Transat and I really wanted an option to upgrade to First Class for me and the FI (as it is our wedding and all!!!)

Is WJ not offering the upgrade? I got it thru air Canada

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
