Resort and photographer were the hardest ones for us. My fiance's friends told him that they were expecting to pay 1200 with taxes. We just didn't like the resorts for that price. We've been to places for that price as a vacation and they were great but not what we pictured for our wedding. It's true, you can't make everyone happy so make yourself happy

I completely agree - we looked at our guest list and honestly, truthfully believe that the vast majority of our guests wouldn't pick the absolute cheapest resort for their own vacation so why should we choose that for our wedding? Our resort is not outrageous either.

The compromise we DID make was having a longer engagement - which resulted in a June wedding instead of the January/winter wedding I would have preferred - so that we gave people enough time to save and plan their vacation time. The other compromise was picking a family friendly resort - oh and a resort close to the airport for ease of travel. Honestly, I think that is enough compromise for OUR wedding :)

Outside of that, I don't give a lick about people's opinions!

It was fitting because in the last couple days to our final payment deadline the complaints start up again :( Or people who didn't save and now have this bill they can't afford. Bracing myself for the worst cause I feel a couple may back out.

And in that case I'd feel awful but it's not my problem anymore. They knew how much it was when they signed up and they knew the deadline. So, you're not Nutella haha.

I know a few will back out last minute and I just hope it's not some of our closest friends. Also from those that didn't book with our group I'm estimating a 10%dropout. It's always easier for your mind to accept it but when the time comes it's hard not to be disappointed.

Sadly it's all Shawn's family. I guess his step mom was on him this weekend saying 'why do you expect us to pay so much?' Shawn said they didn't have to come but I guess his dad hasn't even done his passport yet. I know they haven't paid so we shall see.

Then his brother banked on selling his house to pay for theirs. Well they only listed their house last week. Shawn asked if we could front their bill. Ummm no!! I don't need that stress. Cause if they don't sell their house and it sits on my credit card how do we charge the wedding in Mexico? They should have a plan B like their own credit card.

Sorry had to get that off my chest. I'll remind myself I'm not Nutella and get on with my day lol

It's smart to brave yourself. Good thinking!

That's is tough. I'd be upset if it was our family too. Hopefully it will all sort itself out. At the rate houses are selling in Calgary I don't think they'll have much trouble selling it. I also don't think the prices for your resort are crazy. I saw them somewhere and I thought that was doable for most people. I just hate the guilty feeling when people ask you why you expect for them to pay so much :(. Or why you picked such an expensive resort

Our prices are very reasonable! And they all paid their deposit. They made that choice themselves so why continue to complain?!? You had time to decide to pay the deposit then you had time to save to pay final payment, it's not really our problem you didn't take it serious. Oh well, crossing my fingers all works out as they are family.

Thanks for listening.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
