We are currently looking for a resort in this area and a requirement for the reception is we want drinks and dancing not just a chill dinner on the beach or in a restaurant. Anyone have a reception like this and where? My brother did at Iberostar because they have a disco on the resort itself but we want to make our wedding our own and not reenact theirs. I have seen the Hard Rock Riviera has a night club on the resort but was not too impressed with the beach, or lack there of. Any help would be great thanks!

I would definitely suggest looking at hotels in the heart of cancun vs in the Mayan strip for a more "party" atmosphere, most AI resorts along the riviera may have discos- but they aren't party central- unless you and your guests make it that way!! Depending on the number of guests I'm sure you could get a great party started near anywhere with the right DJ and fun friends!

Hola @@jsparrow10! @@kmk2016 is right that if you really want to a picture perfect beach AND be closer to the action...Cancun might be the way to go :)

But if you fall in love with another hotel in the Riviera Maya that meets most of your needs (like the Hard Rock Riviera Maya which is an incredible resort!) you can still get gorgeous wedding day shots in their beach coves and some dramatic shots along their shoreline.

For something COMPLETELY different you could always plan to do a post wedding Trash or Rock the Dress session the day after in another fabulous location all together like Cozumel, Isla Mujeres or Playa del Carmen to get those beautiful beach shots you're after along with a ton of other amazing shots.

Below are a few sample images. For more destination wedding inspiration in Mexico feel free to visit our website. Happy planning!

I'm planning on having my wedding reception in a banquet hall, so there's AC and everyone will be comfortable, plus we'll have our own private party with dancing and DJ and all that!

What resort is this at?

Thanks for the input so far!

Most resorts have a disco on site (make sure when you're looking at the specs), so in some cases you can have a dinner/reception from 6-10pm, and then head to the disco for the after party so that the night is not cut too short, but you're not paying for extra hours of dj and private open bar. :)

I'm having a reception on a private outdoor deck, which is next to the beach so the dinner is on the deck, and the dancing will take place on the beach witha DJ. (I'll probably also rent the plastic acrylic dance floor).

We are getting married at the Grand Palladium and after dinner we have the option of having a beach party or cocktail party near the beach. Both options you can hire a DJ or just use their speakers and hook up your iPhone for music. Our dinner will go from 6-8, beach party from 8-11, and if we still feel like partying afterwards we will take it to the beach bar or the disco.

@@jsparrow10 I'm getting married at Moon Palace.

My wedding will be August 2015, and I've been to a lot of outdoor summer weddings and I personally hated it. It's so hot and humid, my hair falls apart, and I get bitten like crazy!

Because I want to have a reception and private party, it made more sense for me to have it in a banquet hall. With Moon Palace I have to pay $60/per table per hour (after the first 3 hours). Most resorts have banquet halls available. It's not as pretty as the beach, but for me I think it's a better option! I'm going to bring decorations and probably rent some decorations at the resort as well.

Any use an off resort beach club? I've seen the Grand Coral, Blue Venado, and Kool but can't seem to find any pricing online to see if that would be a better option. Anyone have pricing or know pros/cons about doing it that way?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
