The Hardest Part Of A Destination Wedding

Recommended Posts

@@Sabes44 , I am very hurt by her actions, and on top of it all. She told me she could not make my wedding VIA text. I am like are you kidding me, a text message ?

ah, I'm sorry!  @@atennille  Hopefully you can overcome this, being friends for 15 years doesn't just happen overnight. I agree with @@MissJen3, no matter what someone will not be happy or have something negative to say.  But at the same time you have to do whats best for you and your fiance and the ones who really want to be there will (excluding extenuating circumstances of course)

About 2 weeks ago I had a mini break down when my brother and SIL said they were hoping to have a baby next year. I think it frustrated me cause they know we are doing a DW. When I asked my brother if he would still come to the wedding his response was " well its a family friendly resort, right?" We are hopign to book at a family resort as there will be children invited, but at the same time I dont think that they have thought about taking an infant to a hot destination, and how much that will suck. I feel like a selfish person because I just want to scream at them to wait a bit, but it is their life and who am I to tell them when to have a family? My brother knows that I want him there, and it would hurt to not have him there, but like when he was getting married, they did it their way and my FI and I plan on doing it our way, which is DW.

In all honesty, the conversation about my SIL getting pregnant made me not want a BP at all (my SIL was going to be in the BP). I had a break down at maybe her being pregnant and not coming, and my wedding is over a year away! I could not imagine my BP backing out closer to the day. My FI is still unsure about the idea of not having a BP, but for my sanity and emotional well being I think it should strongly be considered. Like I have tried to tell him, at the end of the day, its about the two of us.

Hopefully they still can come! I have three sisters, all with kids. One of them will be bringing her 5 month old baby. The others have all done trips south with their babies. It wasn't too bad even!

I hope so too. I think it was just the first time that I realized that what I am planning/hoping for may not go exactly how I planned. It just hit home because it was my brother and SIL.

Yes, hopefully they can still come! I think it really depends on how much they want to be at your wedding. My FI's groomsman and his wife (who is one of my best friends as well) are planning on bringing their 3 month old baby to ours!! We were so incredibly touched. They put down their deposits immediately too and said they were going to do their best to make it out there.

My best friend/moh will be about 31/32 weeks pregnant at our wedding :(. It's a bit of a murky zone because she can still technically fly up to about 36 weeks according to the airline, but it's up to her and her doctor. I'm also not sure if she's going to want to be in Mexico at that time. I keep wishing that she got pregnant like even 2 weeks later because then she would have gone for sure. Right now, her deposit is down and I already paid for things like her dress and flowers. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if she doesn't come - have decided to just not think about it now until final payments are due in October and I'm assuming she'll make her decision then

Hahaha at "well at least you fiance didn't RSVP he isn't coming"

@@SamanthaC, sorry you are going through this. I am having some people drop out as well and it certainly is upsetting.  Try not to let that put a damper on your special day.  You are marrying your love.  And as long as you are there and he is there, that's all you really need to get married!  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
