How To Prevent Mosquito Bites

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

I was wondering if any of you had some tips on preventing mosquito bites? Whenever I go to Jamaica, I get eaten alive!!!!!! Last year was really bad...I get a reaction every time I get bitten, and the bite swells up, and starts to weep. I've used creams, but they don't make the bites disappear, they just relieve the itchiness.

My big concern is, that my Wedding dress is tea-length and my legs will be showing, don't really want to have big red swollen legs. I'd really appreciate any advice on preventing mosquito bites, or how you can make them disappear fast!!!

Thanks :-) :-) :-)

Bug spray with deet is going to be your best defence. Doesn't smell great, but does the job!

I agree! Not much out there that prevents them. Somebody told me to take a bounce sheet and run it over your skin. For whatever reason they don't like bounce sheets! (go figure!) I honestly don't know if that works or not.

Good luck!

I worried about this same issue. My WC says she will get a few bottles of OFF the water resistant kind for my self and the guests as well as lighting citronella candles for tea lights and citronella tiki torches around my glass marquee. Due to my location of a private beach and with all that water where mosquitoes tend to congregate more, she said it will work. Try tiki torches with citronella oil if your venue is outdoors.

  • 2 weeks later...

Anyone know if the Cancun area has issues with mosquitos??

I just got back from a site visit and yes, they can get bad with rainy season. Not sure when your wedding is, but I would suggest packing Off for your guests for any activity on the beach- it will help with Mosquitos and Sand fleas.

A friend of mine was in the Gulf War back in the day and he got some powerful stuff used by the military in the Middle East and he said that was the strongest and craziest stuff he's ever used.

I asked him for the name to see if I could find it on line.

If he's able to send me the info I will post it here.

Apparently it's amazing

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
