Best Ways To Prevent Sunburn?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! So, if everything goes right, this week we will have a confirmed hotel and date in Playa del Carmen. Our wedding will be in the beginning of  August so here is my dilemma. I burn soo easily and we will be there on a sunday but probably won't get married until the thursday. This creates a huge stress for me because that means I basically can't do anything for most of my vacation there. I really don't want to have a red nose on my wedding day or red anything for that matter. Does anyone have any tips on trying to not burn? I try to put SPF as soon as I come out of the water and as often as I can but some tours make it really hard to fit the SPF application in. I'm the type that if you miss a spot you can bet it will be burned in an hour. I know it's so silly to be stressing out about this!

I know it's unhealthy but I'm fair and also don't want to have to hide in the shade for half of the week...so I'm going to "fake & bake" the three weeks leading up to leaving! Then I can at least be outside with SPF and a hat on to protect my nose that loves to burn!

I know sunbeds are so bad, but they really do help get your since ready. Also I'd recommend using a SPF 50 if you burn easily... its usually sold as the kids sunblock... I find it works the best.

thanks! I was thinking the same thing. I hate tanning beds because I take care of my skin so much and I feel like i throw all that out the window hahah, but I think in this case getting a base tan would help, and it's only once. Hats are a good idea!

Fake and bake it a couple months before your wedding! I am VERY fair skinned and burn looking a the moon! I always tan a couple months prior to going on vacation. Sunblock can only do so much! Good luck ladies!

@@jayejayelynn you have the opposite problem haha. The first time I traveled to the caribbean in August I burnt so much that just walking felt like it was going to rip my skin apart :(. I had put on sunscreen but I think I went into the water too soon. I'm am soo scared that something like that will happen again. Hopefully some faking and baking will do the trick, plus tons of sunscreen every 10 minutes :P

Amp up the SPF, and buy a really really cute sun hat to take with you! Think Jlo Style! hahaha i'm sure once you get a good base you'll be fine!!

  • 3 weeks later...

I have the same problem :( I'm so pale and I never get a tan I just burn

Luckily I tan but I have to be super patient and it has to be really gradual. I'm ok when the sun is not too strong but the caribbean sun destroys me every time, no matter how much sunscreen I wear :(. I think I'll definitely do some fake tanning to help the process a bit. I'll just have to wear baby sunscreen before the wedding hahah.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
