My fiance and I just got engaged a week ago. We are having a small wedding in Puerto Plata... (It's our 2nd for each of us.) We have to reserve the Villas and pay to do so. Therefore, we had to verbally ask those who are being invited and (unfortunately) explain that they will need to pay for a small portion of their stay upfront as required by the resort. So we will already know who is coming... Can I still send official invitations? I don't like the informality of only 'asking'. Thoughts??

We are doing our invites early for this reason and didn't bother with save the dates since we verbally told those we want there the dates.... Then we are using our interactive website for all RSVP and detail info.

Absolutely a written invitation is the best way to go - it's not only the polite thing to do to follow up an important verbal request with a written notification of same, it also enables (and requires) the invited guests to send a written RSVP so that you have a confirmed acceptance in writing.

I did the same - we already have everyone booked as they paid their deposits for the hotel and flight

We are sending an invite that will direct everyone to respond to our website for food choices, song requests, further info, etc.

Even though we already know they are coming!

We're sending invitations even to those that already told us that they will not go. I think the rule of thumb is, if you were planning on inviting them, you should give them an invite. Some people really like to keep invitations even if they can't go.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
