Hi Everyone!! My fiance and I are Eloping to Jamaica December 22nd of this year!! Were super EXCITED after 9yrs its finally time to say "I Do"!!

Its just the 2 of us going, were having a ceremony on the beach, I think were also going to do a sand ceremony as well even though its just us, it will allow us to bring it back home and display it in the house!

There are 2 things that I can't decide that I'm lo oking for some input on!!

First Dance?!?!! Is it cheesy to do a 1st dance on the beach right after our ceremony?!  It is going to just be the 2 of us which I thought would be kinda romantic but I'm so indecisive.  We will have a photographer and videographer to capture the memories.  What are your opinions do we do it or let it go?!?!

My next thing is:  Should we play music as I walk down to him or no just walk with silence?!! I can't decide on these 2 things especially the 1st dance!! Can't wait to hear what yaw think!!!

Thanks, Ali :)

The first dance is for you and your husband - Go for it!

Do you want music when you enter?  Do you have a favorite song?  You don't have to be constrained - make this everything you want it to be.

Don't worry - Be Happy!  Enjoy!

I say DO IT!!!! I dont like first dances normally cause it is such an intimate moment and seems odd to have a group of people staring as you share that time dancing to a song that means something to you.... so the fact you can share this moment alone on the beach is AMAZING! I also think you should surprise him maybe by walking down the aisle to a song you both love.

Definitely do a first dance! They are sooo romantic and it doesn't matter if no one is watching it will make it even that much more special! And the music is up to you! I think it might be a little weird without music, I would definitely walk down to music but only if its hwat you want! We got married in Cuba and a Cuban trio were included and it was so nice to the CUban music played! Maybe you could get a steel pan band to play for you!

Why would you deny yourself anything just because it's only the two of you?? We didn't! We got married in Jamaica just the 2 of us! No witnesses. No wedding party. Nobody! We had the wedding coordinators as our witnesses! We had a wonderful time! And we did a sand ceremony! And we had a photographer and videographer! And we had a first dance! And I walked down the path to him to music! it was greatl! And we had been together 10 years so just one more year than you!!

If you want a great videographer let me know. I'll give you the details. Plus I have the steel drum music without paying for the steel drum! And it's traditional wedding songs plus others! Your resort should help you out with witnesses if you need them but double check to make sure.

I think our resort took pity on us and went above and beyond. Oh and we had a small wedding cake too that we cut! i don't think there are set rules just because it's only the 2 of you. I say do what you want and what works for you and have fun with it! You're still marrying the man of your dreams in a tropical paradise! Nothing can be better than that!

Good luck and make sure you post some pics when you get back!!

@@acw271011!!  Thanks so much for the comment that really makes me feel better about things!  Did you do a reading during your sand ceremony or play music.  Were doing a Sand ceremony but I was debating on what to do during it...

Also if you don't mind me asking after you ceremony did you go straight into your 1st dance or how did you guys go about that, did you do pictures first or cut the cake...  I think fo some reason I'm not sure on how it should flow...  We have small cake too so were def cutting the cake, and have both a phtographer and videographer, were requred to use the ones with the resort, but thanks so much for the offer!! :) Were staying at a Sandals in Negril were super excited!!

Our minister did a special reading while we poured the sand. I Just don't remember if it was something I gave him, or if he had it himself, but I think it was his. I know we gave him the marriage poem and he read that right at the end of the ceremony. It's one of my favourites. One tip - try to have something that seals your sand after your pour it. I didn't even think of it and ours shifted in transit coming home so it looks kind of sloppy now.

We had our ceremony, then did pictures at the ceremony site. They gave us champagne right after and we chatted with people that we had met at the resort that were there watching. Then they cued up our dance song - Ronan Keating "This I Promise You" and we had our first dance right at the gazebo. It was a bit strange with people standing around but honestly at that point I didn't care. Then we did more pictures around the resort, and went off the resort to a park to do pictures. We came back for sunset shots then went for dinner and cut our cake before we sat down to eat so that the photographer could sit and talk with us and not be worrying about getting pictures. After dinner we went back to our room to freshen up then went to the lobby piano bar for drinks and because we were still in wedding clothes they called us up to the dance floor to have another dance. it was a lot of fun.

I definitely was nervous about it being just the two of us and how things would go, but believe me. They have had twosomes plenty of times before so it's nothing new for them. The WC should guide you through it all. It will all be fine and afterwards you'll wonder what you were worrying about!!  And Sandals are fabulous for weddings so I would lay strong odds that you'll have an absolutely gorgeous wedding!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
