My name is Christina and I just got engaged 2 weeks ago! I want to have a destination wedding-something beachy and tropical. Still deciding on the location..so much to choose from. Any suggestions on how to make the big decision on the location would be great!

welcome and congrats! You have found a great place to start... many past and upcoming brides are here planning alongside you and you can get some great ideas for decor, location etc... its great!!

I would recommend talking to a travel agent as well- they can certainly help you with ideas on resorts/locations!

Have fun!!!

Weclome to BDW and congrats on getting engaged!

@@kmk2016 is absolutely right. A travel agent is your best place to start. They'll be able to listen to what you want, and what you need, and recommend places/locations that you can take a look at. They'll also be able to tell you who might have good deals for group room rates, or littel extras that might be added in. You don't say when you're thinking - next year? Later this year? 2016? That will make a big difference too as to how much info you'll get now. If you're too far ahead, you may only get limited details as regards room rates, etc. You also don't say if you're in the US or canada, as that will also make a difference. Travel packages are done differently in each place. If you want recommendations you'll definitely find them here. Obviously if you're in the US, the owners of this site will be one of your best bets - Wright Travel. You can contact them through this site.

Good luck and happy planning!!

Congratulations!

As mentioned above, the date and area from which you will be traveling are important .

A travel agent can provide guidance once you know your general budget and the type of area and ceremony you would like.

There are many decisions only you can make but we can definitely assist in the process.

Good Luck!

Start getting to know some of the brides planning at your same resort or with similar styles/ideas and you will hit it before you know it! It's a great community here- and I'm sure that once you start posting back and forth it will hit 250 super quick!!

Good luck and welcome!

Congrats on your engagement! How exciting!!

We ended up choosing Mexico due to the cheaper prices- We were thinking of Jamaica, Barbados- somewhere along those lines..

Mexico ended up working out best for us because it doesn't take as long to get there, plane tickets weren't as much, and the resorts were a bit cheaper than most other places..

Somewhere warm and tropical- Lots to choose from :)

I've noticed a lot of resorts have incentives if you book early to help save money :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
