Check out Sara Richardson if we can't find someone from home to take we will be using her. I looked at some others and I don't remember their names but I love Sara's style. If I come across others I will post their names on here :)

@soulgroovy I think the first time Lupita started to contact me about planning my wedding was in July, which was 7 months prior to my wedding.  She asked for my cake selection and what type of meal I wanted.  She also provided me with the DJ song list, the photography flyer and she asked me to send her pictures of the centerpieces and bridal bouquet I would like.  Honestly, Lupita has been fantastic!  However, I agree with @@hyoungquist, as from what I can tell the vendors book up pretty quickly.  Personally I decided not to go with the resort for my hair and makeup as I have not seen any work that the resort has done and they wanted to do my trial when I meet up with the vendors in November.  It made me nervous to have my wedding hair trial done 3 months before the wedding.   Also, my 4 bridesmaids and my mom are all having our hair done in the room, so I decided to use Suzanne Morel, as I have seen their work and decided it would be in my best interest to go outside of the resort since I have a good sized bridal party.

I looked over the flyer that Lupita provided for the photographer the resort uses and I was not overly impressed, so I decided to look another photographer.   I just confirmed with Gilda Badillo for photography.

I am done with vendor selections which is a relief.

@@soulgroovy and @@MichelleT have either of you gotten quotes on doing anything different in the package? I asked about bringing down burlap and just draping it over the wedding arbor and I was told that they can supply the burlap and bring in "experts" to put the fabric on and it would be an additional $200! I was literally blown away. It is something super simple that I could have done myself standing on a chair with 2 pieces of burlap but they won't allow me to do it myself. It just is making me afraid to see any other ideas I may like and want to have her quote me on. I thought about making our own chair signs ("Mr" and "Mrs") and then something matching for the dessert table (maybe a "love is sweet" banner) and I feel like I am going to be charged just to have someone hang it over the side of the chair! I know when it comes down to it these are NOT important details of my wedding day and I can do without them BUT there are some little touches that I would love to have for some pictures. Sorry I am venting but just wanted to get your opinions. Also, if you guys have chosen your flowers what did you go with? I originally wanted white flowers and succulents and was told at our site visit succulents were included but now have been told they are not so I need to send her pictures of what I want to see how much they would charge to add a small amount of succulents in (literally just want 1 in my bouquet and in each of the centerpieces). As far as the white flowers the only choice that I liked was roses but am afraid I won't be able to use roses exclusively.

@@hyoungquist this is why I am using an outside florist for our personal flowers and outside vendors for other items, as when I started asking about flowers I was told what flowers were included. The list included lilies so I asked for roses and callas, well, I was told callas were not included and that the flowers were very basic. I thought white callas were not very expensive flowers, but I went with it. Then when I asked about switching my personal bouquet to a centerpiece I was told again that the flowers in the package are very basic...this kind of worried me a little bit as my personal flowers for myself and my wedding party are important to me, so I hired Cabo Floral Studios for my personal flowers. I also asked for a very basic white cake and I am having the outside florist decorate it. The issue I was having was that I had to keep providing pictures of what I wanted and I am not entirely sure I will get what I want on my wedding day which is why I decided to go outside of the resort for any extras. I did ask for a quote for a farewell brunch and the amount I was quoted was more than I paid for the Sunset package which was crazy to me since every one of my guests are staying at the resort. I do think you can bring some of your own items...I am bringing my own maracas and I was thinking about bringing my own Mr & Mrs signs for the chairs too. I cannot fathom how on earth a piece of burlap draped over the houpa would require experts or cost $200, that seems pretty ridiculous to me, but then again, i was quoted $200 for another company to hand white sheers on the legs of the houpa and $150 for a white runner. When I asked Lupita about the sheers and the runner she referred me to an outside rental company.

@@MichelleT what is your e-mail? I have some pictures that I found from a wedding there this summer that includes the white lilies and roses and have e-mailed Lupita to say that this is what I want if this is included in the package. Also, how did you ask about the farewell brunch? When we did our site visit she said they would section off a part of the restaurant so that we could all sit together but since it is an all inclusive we would not be charged extra. But then again, my outside vendor fee has gone from $200 to $400!!!!

@@hyoungquist I am doing all roses because they are actually included in the flowers. I was originally told that lillies were included and also asked for calla lillies as well, but once I was told they would be more I went with just roses. I am using linens, things and more for the extra stuff. I am using the center pieces provided, but added table clothes, chargers, an entrance table and a cake table. I also am just doing a white cake with pink roses. I am bringing my own vases for the bridesmaids flowers, but I am just giving them to the linen company. I did not ask about having anything added to the ceremony space so I don't know what they are charging $200 for!?! That seems ridiculous. I am doing a rehersal dinner, but holding it at the buffett so it is not costing me extra. I also asked for a bill last week so I know what I am looking at and I have not been provided one yet so I am going to email Lupita right now. SO far this has been farely easy so fingers crossed all goes smoothly. 6 more weeks!!!!

@@DVon18 do you want me to e-mail you pictures that I found of a recent wedding that did all white flowers? They are roses and lilies (not calalilies) and I told Lupita it is what I want if it is included in the package (I haven't heard back yet). Do you mind me asking how much it was for the linens? I am assuming that "linens, things and more" is an outside vendor? I wasn't aware that you just got tables and chairs with nothing on them.

@@hyoungquist the hotel provides all white linens but once i saw the room decorated for another wedding I felt like it was too much white. The round table linens were $57 each. I am also doing a bride a groom table ($64 for linen) and two long tables for the wedding party. Since i am doing a wider table I also had to rent two rectangle tables. (tables $30 each and linens were $69 each). I told them what my budget was and my colors and they gave be a bunch of ideas. The ladies were great to work with and I had originally had something completely different booked in March and changed my mind in August and they were more than accommodating. I would highly recommend them if you want anything more than the white provided by the hotel. I ended up going with white flowers for the tables since I am doing blush colored linens.

@@DVon18 good to know! I don't think I will be using the linen company as my outside vendor fee for 2015 is $400! I wanted to do sequin table cloths for our table and then the dessert table but Lupita said she would have to give me a price on that even though I am bringing the table cloths. A little confused since it is no different then them putting on a regular tablecloth they just would be using one that I give them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
