Ceremony/reception Location, Not At A Resort

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

My FI and I are wanting to stay on the Marina at Marina Fiesta Resort. We stayed there when we were there in Oct 13 and loved all the service and our week stay! It was in the best location for walking to all the bars, being around all kinds of food, and easy for the men to get up, roll out of bed and go fishing. :)

They don't have any weddings packages there, only at their sister property, Hacienda Encantada. I have looking into their pricing and packages there. What I want to know is:

  • Does anyone know of any locations, resort or not, that I can have a ceremony and reception at that we are NOT required to stay there. There are many resorts that have packages, but they are requiring that at least 80% of your party needs to stay at their resort to have your wedding there
  • Has any bride for end of 2014 and any 2015 Brides having any luck with being able to plan a wedding with a budget of $10 grand? It would be awesome to stay at that price, but I am learning that might not be possible! :)

Thanks ladies for any input/help you might have in this matter! I am wanting to find something ASAP for a June 2015 wedding!

I don't know much about that area. My FI and I are getting married in the Cancun area in November 2014, but we are going through a resort (we plan on staying, and getting married there)... I'd recommend finding a coordinator in the area to do your footwork, they would have a better idea of what is in the area that is in your price range. Just make sure you do your homework; I've heard some horror stories about people paying coordinators, and dropping off the face of the earth.

You could contact the owners of this website - Wright Travel. They are DW specialists and Tammy is a Cabo bride. You can contact them through the site. They have all kinds of awards and special deals for different resort chains, so I would definitely start there!

Happy planning!

Thanks ladies!! I found a resort that will allow me to just have my ceremony and reception there and not stay there! Casa Dorada! I have read really good things about them and not very negative at all. More negative about their outside vendors!!

fingers crossed I get a good quote back! :)

  • 1 month later...

Hey! I am looking to plan a July 2015 wedding. We originally planned on staying and having the wedding/reception at the Riu but as our guest list grew, they were not able to accommodate to the amount of people. We will be having between 70-100 guests. We are also on a budget. Did you get any promising information back from Casa Dorada or any other location?! Any help would be appreciated.. thanks!!

What's your email? I can send you some stuff and also, talking on the phone is so much easier if you are ok with that! I booked Casa Dorada, awesome easy rates and great planner Leoan Gomez comes with it! Also we are staying at Marina Fiesta, cheap great rooms and all inclusive 5 mins from beach, 5 mins from downtown!

Cassie- my email is jenna32schap@yahoo.com - that would be great, thanks!!

Lynsey- They said you can have 100 guests for the ceremony. Our concern is, we already have 73 definite guests and we are worried that once we send out the invitations if we do reach over 100 people we are going to be stuck. Also, we were told that you could have up to 80 guests for the dinner/reception and again, we are concerned because we are going to be cutting it close. We were planning for the Riu Santa Fe so the Riu Palace may be able to accommodate more if you were planning on having it there! Did you pick a date yet or start planning!?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
