My wedding is next Feb and we are waiting to send STDs until we do engagement pics (which is in 5 days omg I need to figure out my second outfit  ). Everyone who is going to be invited knows about the wedding (family obv but for friends my fiance and I sent a quick facebook message with the basic details so they could start planning early!). Our engagement pics will be on the STD (at least one of them) so by the time we get those back and get STDs ordered and sent, we're hoping by the beginning of July. Invites will be in the fall.

I did boarding pass STD, they weren't really fancy. The main thing you need to list is the date (obviously lol) and the hotel and booking info. I would definitely recommend making a wedding website if you haven’t done so already. That way you can list majority of the info up there and the STD can basically direct your potential guest to the site.

I found mine at minted.com. We had a couple e-pics on there, the date, our website, a quick "bag your bags were getting married in riviera maya blah blah", I did not include the resort name, just riviera maya. Our wedding is in 8.5 months and we will send STDs next week. Everyone who is invited knows through word of mouth already so it's just a formality and a way to get the website out.

We had to send STD as soon as we booked our location. We wanted to give our guest ample enough time to book their trip and have time to pay for it since it will be difficult for some to afford. We just did a magnet for people to stick on their fridge that referred them to our wedding website for the information. That way we had time to get out formal invitations and pick our color scheme etc.

Good luck and happy wedding planning!

Hey, congratulations. I sent my save the dates out in November 2013 for a October 2014 wedding. I wanted to give my guest enough time to save for our Jamaican Wedding. I also did not have a theme but I went with a postcard that had our picture and an airplane :)

I sent save the dates 14 months in advance. First deposit was due in 45 days. I think you get a better response with them going out early. I'm debating if I wanna do formal invitations next yea or a "thanks for booking" here some info about what to except sort of thing. Not sure

I sent STDs a year to the day. The invites are going out 3 months before the wedding. The STDs were very simple, we getting married, the date, the location, and please STD. It worked out well for planning. My guests appreciated the advance notice.

@@tygrrlily do you like the knot for a wedding website? I'm in the process of choosing a site right now and the layouts look nice and practical. From what I can see it seems to be free to create a wedding website. Did you pay for extra features? If so what would you recommend?

Thanks!

I do like it. I paid the extra $20 to have the custom domain b/c it was easier to put on invititaitons and have people remember it. If you want something super custom and personalized, it might be too standard. But if you just want an easy to place to lay out your information in a very straightforward way, it's great. We've gotten a lot of compliments on ours. I think Wedding wire is pretty similar in features - you should look into that one too

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
