New Bride To Be - Playa Del Carmen

Hello Everyone!!!

Ahhhh I am recently engaged and starting the process of planning.  As of right now I already feel overwhelmed! Right now we have 13 months and counting. The hardest thing for both me and my fiancé thus far has been choosing a place.

So far this is what we started off with:

Barceló Maya Palace - Recommended but after doing research it was not for us

Dreams Riviera Cancun - Loved the venue through pictures but we had a concern about the privacy and packages

Private Beach Clubs: Blue Venada & Grand Coral: Still Deciding on these

Occidental Grand Xcaret - I am currently researching this one and of course I am loving it.

Does any have any thoughts on this OGX?

I really want an island feel and am in LOVE with the Palapas Gazebo although someone mentioned that is right near the pool area and again the issue about privacy becomes a concern. Not so much for me but for my fiancé. In his words: I really don't want to have a wedding where in the photos are people with speedos and bikinis photo bombing our ceremony! hahahah Cant stop laughing about this comment however it's very true.

Any thought anyone??

With open arms and much appreciation...a overstressed bride to be....Tina

Hi Tina - welcome to BDW!!!

I don't know much about the resort you're looking at, but you may want to try the RM MX section on the forum.

Good luck and happy planning!

Hello Tina and welcome to the forum, its a great place to find so many resources that will help you along the way in making all the little decisions. Here at Pixan Photography we have shot at all the above locations, and each of them has there own special charm, OGX is exquisite and makes for fantastic photographic opportunities. All of the hotels you have mentioned I would highly recommend and have lots of insider tips for each of them, plus great ideas for photography in each location, if you want more location specific images for any of the resorts or just have any questions don't hesitate to get in contact and I will be happy to help you.

Happy Planning,

Jacqueline

@@HerreraNovia  Congratulations and welcome to BDW!

You will find a virtual fountain of information here that will help you through each step of your DW planning. The Riviera Maya is truly a beautiful place to get married!

I agree with @@AllieH - check out the resort reviews section of the site. I'm sure you will find some information on the resorts you're researching.

Do you have a travel agent yet? That is definitely something that will help you with your location decision. TAs have information on perks, group rates and tips that will help you plan your DW. Wright Travel, the owner of this site, are destination wedding specialists and have access to all of the special details to make yours and your guests' experience a wonderful one! Definitely check the review of their services in the vendor review section.

Good luck and happy planning!

The Royal helped me with a wedding planner and travel agent. You might want to search for those. That really helped me organize everything and answer questions. 13 months will be a good amount of time. I planned mine since December 2012 and we get married this June :)  Personally the hardest part so far is getting a for sure confirmation from the guests

Hello Herrera Novia,

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum, you have come to the right place to help you with your decisions and get ideas for your wedding.  As a wedding planner in the Riviera Maya we have plenty of private place to recommend to you.  If privacy its important for your wedding, you might consider having your guests at of the resorts you mentioned and taking your wedding to a private location.

Te owners of the page are travel agent you may want to contact them too.

Feel free to reach out and and we would be happy to help.

Hola @@HerreraNovia,

So so so many decisions! Private beach clubs are pretty awesome and can give you complete flexibility to customize your wedding exactly the way YOU want it while also having privacy.

Here are just a few images of a wedding we recently shot at Grand Coral Beach Club (Joyce of @@dreamweddings was their Wedding Planner). If you're interested in having a non-resort wedding you can always try running your vision past a wedding planner here in Mexico to see what they can dream up for you and what options are out there. We just visited another new non-resort venue yesterday to do photos for them and the place was INCREDIBLE!

For the entire album of Susan & Andy's awesome non-resort destination wedding click here or visit our website for a little more destination wedding inspiration!

Happy planning :)

@@HerreraNovia - That was very difficult for us too. The things that were most helpful were our TA, this site, and reading reviews on tripadvisor.com and applevacations.com! We are marrying at Dreams Riviera Cancun, from what I understand there are 2 beaches (if you're in to that) that you can marry at: the south beach is more private than the north beach.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
