I'm getting married in July, 2014 at Valentin Imperial in Riviera Maya. I'm completely stressed out and confused with what to do with the photographer. the onsite resort photographer looks like they take good pictures, however, they are very pricey. If I'm going to pay a lot for photos and a video, should I venture out and hire a different photographer? If so, can anyone recommend a great photographer who captures stunning pictures of the tropical beauty of Mexico as well as of us? We would like something natural and artistic - the photographer needs to be very personable and friendly.

PS: I have one month left to find my photographer and my neurosis is killing me please help, brides!

For starters, I'll recommend that you relax! Mexico has some absolutely wonderful photographers that take stunning photos. It will come down to your budget, what the outside vendor fee is at your resort, and what you're looking for.

Here are the ones that I've looked at, which is probably most of them!

www.delsolphotography.com   Very popular with brides on this site. For my budget, they were high but that is strictly a personal choice.

www.cancunphotos.net   Sascha Gluck too does some beautiful work, and also responds quite quickly. I'm still looking at him for us.

www.claudiaphoto.com

www.deansandersonweddings.com   Dean and his wife Anna seem very personable, and she answers inquiries very quickly. She also provided some suggestions for some things that I was trying to get information on. I really like his work but for my budget I'm still trying to figure out if I can afford them.

www.elizabethmedina.com

www.gonzalonunez.com

www.luckiephotography.com

www.bicoastalimages.com   This is a couple that do photography. I really like their work and they are also on my short list. Their photos for what I want are really great!

www.momentsthatmatterphotography.com

www.photographyisforever.com

www.ceciliadumas.com   Cecilia's work is stunning, at least for me. Her colours are fabulous and she is on my short list.

I would highly recommend going through the vendor reviews and see the different comments from other brides. And check out their websites to see what attracts you to their work, if it actually does. Everyone's tastes are personal when it comes to photography so you'll see something in one that you like, but maybe not in another. And as I said, your budget will be an important factor plus how much your resort charges to bring in an outside photographer.

This isn't all of them by any means - it's just some of the ones that I looked at that stuck with me when I reviewed their photos.

Good luck and happy planning!  Oh yes - and welcome to BDW. You'll definitely find enough information here to get you through the rest of your planning!

Hey @@JillianH, @@acw271011 has provided you with a fabulous list of our professional colleagues here in Mexico to go through (@@acw271011 thank you also for the compliments & including us. We're thrilled to be on your short list! :) )

We are not available in July 2014 but I thought I'd still add...if you hire a professional rather than going with the resort you will know exactly WHAT to expect in terms of the quality/style etc. and WHO will be capturing your big day. For many brides this is one of the most valuable factors when making their decision.

Best of luck finding your perfect photographer & videographer!

I also agree with bicostal.  It's really important to know who will be photographing your wedding and what your end results will look like.
I honestly do recommend hiring an outside photographer.  The list you were given is great and you can always fly in a photographer for right around the same price as well.

I hope i didn't offend anyone. The list I posted was only the list of the ones I contacted based on what I found online that interested me enough to contact the photographer. There are many very qualified photographers in the RM that do beautiful work! It comes down to a matter of personal taste and what works for each individual.

Whatever you do, don't hesitate to reach out to the photographers and ask questions! That's the only way you will make a completely informed decision as to what is right for you!

Best of luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
