Wedding Dress Shopping By Yourself?

Recommended Posts

Where did you go? Have you looked online at the different designers to get an idea of what you're looking for? They are all there and it's loads of fun to look. Maggie Sottero, Essense Designs, Mori Lee, Mon Cheri, Allure.  Even David's Bridal has an online website that you could look at. The thing is, just a tip, look at the US site. It has more detail than the Canadian site and the prices are all on the US site too. The Canadian prices are, on average, about $50 to $100 more than the US prices if that helps.

@@kcole123 - I am going shopping this Wednesday. To be honest, I am really anxious over it. I have a lot of body/self-esteem issues so I am afraid that is going to get in the way of me having fun with the whole experience. Let me know how the DB experience goes. Good luck  :)

You will definitely find one you love! Just be patient! I thought it would happen right away but I tried on numerous dresses and then eventually I just knew. I didn't even have my dress done up all the way and I knew it was the gown I'd be walking down the aisle in. You will get that excited / wow'd feeling! I totally didn't think I was going to. I mean all the dresses were nice, but none wow'd me until I found mine!

well girls another unsuccessful trip wedding dress shopping. I enjoyed shopping but didn't find anything that really looked nice on me or that wow'd me. I have an appointment with David's Bridal on May 10th. Hopefully I will have more luck. I do believe I will find something and I am still looking early which is good.

David’s Bridal is where I found my dress! The sales people there were way friendlier and more honest than any other shop I went to. Good luck!

@@kcole123 I went by myself the first time for the same reasons as you my family and friends live too far away :( it was fun trying on all the dresses, didn't find anything I like but I did have a better idea of what looked good on me..i don't do well with pushy sales ladies so I was stuck in the store for a lot longer trying to say no without someone to back me up.

The second time I took my neighbour ... It was a lot more fun! Obviously not as fun as having a best friend there but it was someone to laugh with, and someone to give you an opinion. Maybe you should consider taking a work friend on the second run. I ended up buying my dress from davids bridal though I ordered it over the phone from the US and never tried it on in store.

Good Luck with the hunt I'm sure you'll find your dress :)

@@kcole123 I'm in Calgary... I should make a work trip up to Edmonton and book some appointments and we can try on dresses together! I have my entire bridal party in town, but I think it would be fun to try on dresses without them pretending things look good when they don't only to appease me! Haha we could be totally honest for each other!

I also went to David's Bridal for my dress....they are really helpful.  I ended in a dress that I said I didn't like on the hanger but once I tried it on, I knew it was the one....so don't be afraid to try on something you don't originally like on the hanger!

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
