How Long Before Wedding To Arrange Finer Details

Recommended Posts

Well everyone,

This site has been my go to for anything wedding related. So I figured you all could help me with this also. How long before your wedding do you actually co-ordinate your wedding details with the resort, Carribbean Celebrations (using them to decorate the La Barcaza for my reception). I have no idea when I should start contacting these people to let them know what I want. The issue is I wouldn't know how much of certain things I would need because I won't know how many guests are coming yet.

It's quite surprising how little time these resorts need for the "final details". Most won't start paying really close attention to your wedding until about 2 months before your date!! They're generally busy with all of the other weddings that are in line before yours! It's quite the business for them!  Then a lot of little details don't even get finalized until when you actually show up and do your WC meeting right before your wedding!! Having said that, you could definitely get in touch with them and start outlining what you want just in general. Keep all your communications!! Print them out and start a file of them and make sure you have it to take with you!! It's sad to read some brides' stories where they have arrived on site only to find out there are things that aren't as they wanted them to be and they've had to fight to get them. It's not the norm, but it does happen. If you have it in writing in an email, you stand a better chance of getting what you want and it is proof that it was something that was discussed with the WC.

Happy planning!

ok thanks good to know. I have contacted the WC already but have yet to hear back. That was two weeks ago. I am in no rush because we are still a little under a year away. But I did want to mention to them about a cocktail hour that I wanted in between the ceremony time and the time La Barcaza starts. Just to give guests something to do all together while they are waiting if they so wish. We will be taking pictures with guests anyway but while myself and my fiancé are taking pictures it would be nice to have a cocktail hour. I have a specific time that I want though so I contacted them to see if I could get that time and where I could have it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Start as early as you can!

To ensure that you have the wedding of your dreams! It's never to early to start planning! These resorts get booked quickly and very early!

Early planning will ensure you get the ceremony time and location you want, dinner reservation and location, reception time and location, etc......!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
