Fantastic Dj In Cabo - Marcia Castro

My Husband and I recently had our wedding in Cabo San Jose at The Hyatt Ziva Resort.  It was the BEST day of our lives! This was in part due to the fact that we had such an incredible DJ, Marcia Castro! Marcia helped our through out the planning process, easing the difficulties of organizing a destination wedding and absolutely delivered on wedding day.  During our ceremony she sang (which was such a wonderful touch - she has a great voice), played the piano and played songs we had planned in advance.  Our reception was a blast! She has great energy and has a way of getting people involved and out dancing.  She brought maracas, hats, fun props and encouraged everyone to do a tunnel and Congo line.

She really personalized our wedding spending a great deal of time planning and preparing playlists and arranged in advance with my husband to surprise everyone with a song he sang.  One thing that stands our with Marcia is how much she cares, she wanted our wedding to be special and the time of our lives.  She has a huge heart and felt more like a guest at our wedding from the US than a DJ we hired.

We had our wedding last month (March 2014) in San Jose del Cabo at the Hyatt Ziva. It was an amazing week and such a wonderful wedding day! Although I was a bit stressed leading up to the wedding, everything ran smoothly and I couldn't have asked for a better day! This was in large part to our DJ/MC Marcie Castro. I hired Marcie only about a month or so before the wedding and she was spectacular in every way. She was available to chat on the phone as well as email prior to the wedding and was super efficient about answering any questions I had and answering emails right away (This is huge for a stressed Bride!!!). Marcie is a seasoned pro and gave me great advice about the music list as well as other aspects of our wedding that I was unsure about. She is easy to talk to, very honest about what may not work or be the best idea in her wedding/event experience (although always left it up to me to decide, saying "It's your day!!") and is a genuinely kind person. We had an issue with some of our wedding favours getting stuck at the post office in San Jose and Marcie offered to PICK THEM UP AND STORE THEM AT HER HOUSE until we got to the resort. I was floored at her kindness and willingness to help me out in a way that was so out of her job description!!! She saved the day for us, huge. When we finally met in person, Marcie was so professional and prepared for our wedding, making sure she had every detail correct and that we were 100% happy with our plans for the big day. She kept in contact throughout the week and was available whenever we needed her.

On the wedding day, Marcie did all the music during the ceremony (including singing live and playing the keyboard) and then kept the party going during the reception. She was enthusiastic and fun, bringing something for everyone and getting all our reluctant guests off their bums and onto the dance floor! She brought lots of fun props and made sure everyone was enjoying themselves and getting down on the floor!! All our guests absolutely raved about her the next day and how much fun they had because of her. My husband and I couldn't be happier with our choice to hire Marcie. She gives 150% of herself while working on your wedding and makes sure that your special day is one you'll never forget :)

We are planning our wedding for next may 2015 at the Hyatt Ziva as well.  We are interested in getting pricing and information regarding DJ marcia after your reviews.  Could you forward the information to us?  Also did you have to pay the vendor fee to the Hyatt?

Thanks

You will love it at Hyatt Ziva! Everyone who attended our wedding couldn't stop saying how much they loved the resort!! The wedding planners are excellent, we had Carmen and there is one other lady who is also wonderful.

You definitely want to have Marcie work with you, she has done so many weddings at Hyatt and also plays music there a few nights a week.  She really knows the grounds and has great insight!  Our wedding coordinator from Hyatt had recommended her, you can check her out at  www.caboweddingmusic.com.  We came a few days early and Marcie was happy to meet up with us to meet in advance and go over music and details for the wedding.

We hired a photographer/videographer who did a great job, we are so happy we choose to do the videography.  We debated about it for a while but it was completely worth it!

Take Care!

Just to clarify "Marcia Castro" and "Marcie Castro" are the same person...my email address for her spells her name as Marcia but it's pronounced and actually spelled Marcie.  Sorry for any confusion!!

@mention Marcia pays the vendor fee. Our package came with music for the ceremony so we were able to use her for that as well. My friends are still talking about her, she was incredible!

I looked up Desert Rose but really like Enrique Morales. Initially it was his website that drew me in, he had great quality pictures and everyone was in a flattering light. The other photographer's websites had such unflattering shots of the bridal party and friends.

Enrique Morales had a great combo package with photography and videography. The video production is very high quality. My friends all think our wedding video should be a commercial or music video. You can check him out at emweddings.com

My husband and I recently tied the knot in Cabo at Villa Buena Vida in Pedregal. It was the definition of a fairy tale. Our most favorite part of the event was the reception, hands down. We owe this to Marcie Castro. There is no way we can completely express our gratitude and give a high enough recommendation for this FANTASTIC individual. Professional, personable, entertaining, helpful, FUN, and downright amazing at what she does. She made our reception personalized, a one-of-a-kind experience, and the BEST party we have ever attended.  She was so incredibly helpful at planning, organizing, and executing an exceptional party.

My husband actually found her online and submitted an enquiry. She was so prompt at responding and very professional. She followed up with phone calls, emails, and even an on-site visit to the Villa Buena Vida in Pedregal to make sure she had a feel for exactly what we wanted, offering brilliant ideas, suggestions, and advice along the way that really did make a world of difference in the final product.

She had everyone on their feet, from my 4 year old nephew to my 80 year old grandmother. Three months later, and we are still receiving texts and emails from our guests talking about how much fun the reception was and that they wish we could do it all again. This review can't even begin to illustrate her capabilities. If you are in search for a DJ for any occasion, you won't find a better DJ than Marcie Castro. My husband and I couldn't be any more sincere when we say that hiring her was the smartest, easiest, and best decision we made when it came to wedding planning. You will not be disappointed!!!!

  • 1 month later...

Marcie was the dj for my wedding last year May 16, 2013 at the Barcelo, Los Cabos. She went over and beyond to make my day extra special. Without us even asking her she had one of her assistants film our ceremony and some of our reception, which was a great keepsake! She sang beautifully at our ceremony and reception!

She was very organized and responded promptly to emailed questions about song choices etc. And she provided many song lists and great suggestions. At the reception she pumped up the crowd with her music selections and awesome props- boas, various hats (sailor, jamaican, somberos, sparkly fedoras), limbo etc.

We were so thankful to have her as our dj and I would recommend her to anyone without a doubt! :)

I had my wedding at Barcelo (aka Ziva) in 2013 and it was the most memorable day of my life. The staff there was wonderful and introduced me to Marcia who DJ in my wedding. She was professional to work with and very talented. She can plan instruments, sing and really get the crowd going! I had guests of all ages in my wedding and Marcia was able to keep everyone entertained and dance! I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a  wonderful DJ who can make your special day even more special. My husband and I are going back for our anniversary trip, I do hope to see her performance again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
