@smileitseb~2 long table sounds beautiful. Where is your reception? We are in the ballroom. I thought about long tables after my bridal shower this past Sunday, but I'm not sure how that would look in the Ballroom with sooooooo much space. I'm scared that it will be hot as hades outside when we are down there. You are less than 30 days away. Have you started packing? I'm getting nervous even thinking about it.

@@landryfrost We upgraded to the Seaside Grille for our reception! Cocktail hour on the pool terrace and ceremony at the gazebo. Gazebo vs beach are entirely different. The gazebo is not private (it's next to the pool), and not in the sand. The beach is....the beach! haha so it's up to you and your fiance's preferences! Personally, we wanted the gazebo for the look of it and my fiance wants to wear nice shoes (hence no sand). I don't mind the people watching, I think it adds to the fun :-)

@@Beaner82 I'm just a couple weeks after you!! Feb 23 :-) We're not doing anything on wedding day on the beach, but we may do the welcome reception there the night before!

Hello!  I am planning my wedding at Dreams - September 6, 2015.  I am very excited!  Since your wedding recently passed, can you tell me how many guests attended your wedding and what it felt like to have your wedding at the gazebo? I was a little worried that the gazebo is too exposed to the public. My fiance and I were watching some youtube videos of other couples and some looked a little weird with tons of people watching on the side lines with bikinis.  We are considering the beach as an alternative ceremony location, but do not plan to change anything until we arrive a few days before the wedding. Like you hubbie, we both plan to wear some nice shoes and I don't think my 4 inch heels will cut it in the sand.

Hey girls!

I must say that I am sooo happy I found this blog! I stayed up the past 2 nights reviewing a few threads and realized many of them were helpful but originated in pre-2014..eek.  But then I found your thread specific for 2015 brides!!!  I am so excited for you all! My wedding will be the day before Labor Day - September 6.  I must say, I found this blog because my fiance and i saw a few youtube videos with a few weddings at DRC and we were a bit disappointed. The videos showed that the gazebo is in the mix and that was the main feature we were sold on! It looks like there is no element of privacy which makes us nervous...Folks standing around in bikinis etc is freaking us out.Our wedding consultant / travel agent is trying to calm us down but we are seriously contemplating moving the ceremony to the north beach (but then the wedding party won't be able to wear our fun shoes).

Does anyone else have concerns with privacy? Our cocktail hour will be on the beach and our reception is supposed to be on the pool terrace - we are in the process of trying to get it changed to the pool deck.

In addition, how many guests are you all expecting? We recently had 80 people submit their deposits by our pre-established deadline.

@@phdtck1 Hey girl! welcome to our forum!!! :)

I went back and forth about the gazebo as well. It's really the reason I chose DRC because I never wanted to get married on sand, always overlooking the beach bc I want me and my fiance to wear shoes! I've talked to several brides and looked at endless videos and you're right, you will most likely draw an audience. However, most ppl say everyone is respectful and they did not notice them during their ceremony, aka not a distraction. Also if you decide to have it at the gazebo, tell your photographer and videographer to try to get shots without those ppl! we are having it at the gazebo and I think it will be fine :)

I'm getting married in 15 days and we are having 58 guests. Amazing that you have 80 people! and they already submitted their deposits, thats awesome.

Also, look up the Cancun Brides and Cancun and Riviera Maya Brides groups on Facebook....lots of DRC brides on there, and we share info everyday!

Also, I was originally signed up for the Pool Terrace but am so glad I changed it to the Pool Deck, it seems MUCH better!

p.s. when asking specific brides questions, it is good to mention their @ name so they get a notification, otherwise they may miss it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
