Recommended Posts

Hi all!!  I just put a deposit down in November and got frustrated as David failed to mention another couple is getting married at the Gazebo the same time I booked :(

Anywho!! Scouting out  affordable wedding invitation sites and would LOVE to hear from all of you!! I love love love the passport invitation but hoping to keep cost down.

Thanks so much!

I am having a love hate relationship with Dreams. I love, love their resort. I hate their pricing. :(

I am literally paying for the ultimate wedding pkg twice because my guest count is over 20. Does anyone know if they would work a deal with you or are open to negotiation?

I really don't want to look for another location, but it's looking like I may have to...

@@smileitseb I just realized your wedding date is right around Cinco de Mayo. How much fun that will be! Wow, only 3 months to go. You must be so excited!

How are you liking your WC and who were you assigned?

@@desmiv We are so excited about being there around cinco de mayo and a lot of my guests are staying thru that day but I've heard Mexicans don't even really celebrate it lol

Yes I'm SO SO EXCITED!!! I was assigned Elisa, she is very nice. We are in the beginning stages right now so I am just telling her my requests and getting her prices then adjusting as necessary (i.e. who knew sequin tablecloths were SO expensive lol)! But so far, so good.

In the beginning it was hard for me to really estimate the number of people coming so I didn't go with one of those packages at the larger resorts (like the palace resorts that give you free wedding events for over 75 nights booked).....I'm way over 20, will probably end up at like 40 over but I still think I made the right decision in resort. When is your date and when will you decide by? maybe you could stick with DRC, but just cut back on certain things.

That's soo funny that they don't celebrate it, but at least you and your guests can. Although, I did see it marked on the resort activities calendar so maybe the resort does do something??

Yeah, my estimated list right now is at 57 including me and my FI. I'm hoping it doesn't get any bigger and really wouldn't mind all that much if some ppl couldn't make it, as horrible as that sounds. lol

I've been stressing about the price and my budget a lot lately, but my mind was put at ease by a lot of really helpful brides on some FB groups I am apart of. They had their weddings there and have shared pictures and information which has made me feel a little better. Not to mention, my FI sat me down yesterday and said to just have the wedding I want (don't go too crazy), but don't sacrifice things you truly want since we'll only be doing this once.

With that said, I will more than likely stick with DRC. I'll just play with the budget planner a little until I'm a bit more satisfied. We aren't getting married until June 17th 2016 so I have lots of time to play around with it. I am booked with DRC already and received my confirmation letter so now it's just figuring out what exactly I want.

I need to play with numbers regarding using their vendors (like their photo\video, DJ) and compare it to outside vendors and see if it's cost effective as well as quality/quantity. Some brides have recommended going with a company that does photo and video to cut down on the outside vendor fee that is imposed. I also like the idea that the outside DJ packages come with so much stuff and for cheaper than what the resort offers. I saw one that had DJ for 4 hrs and included; light up dance floor, DJ booth/equipment, lighting, and rolling shot cart I think all for under $2000. Now I just have to remember where I saw it at. ;)

Can't wait to keep following you through your journey. I'm so excited for you. It's going to me A-mazing!!

Is anyone having a welcome reception for their guests? I want something informal and with drinks and appetizers.  I requested it at the jacuzzi but it is not available when I want it! My coordinator offered the Mexican restaurant with tables together but I didnt want it to be sit down. I know @@nattiegams325 is having a sit down dinner but I wanted to know what everyone else is doing? and where?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
