Dreams Riviera Cancun 2015 Brides

Recommended Posts

Thank you ladies.

I knew it was going to be rainy season, but I thought more of a Caribbean 20 min on 20 min off type of thing which I can deal with. I didn't think much of anything worse, cause when I did my research I read Riviera Maya is pretty much protected from getting hit by hurricanes and the average rainfall in June was 6 days out of the month. Which I thought was not bad and something I can deal with. Never did I imagine anything like they had this weekend. It was crazy. lol Don't get me wrong, we knew how to make the best of it (we went in the Jacuzzi anyway ;) ), but you're wedding day is just a little harder to do.

We picked June because it's our anniversary so it meant a lot to have it around that time. We have been together for 19 years as of June 15th. My fiance had recommended that we get married on our 20th anniversary which I thought was a beautiful idea. So I'm kinda stuck on that (because it was such a romantic gesture), however if I am able to change it for earlier I would. I did try and see if I can move it, but they are already pretty much booked in 2016 -so crazy.

@@calgarybride2015 I meant location change as another island. We are considering Aruba. I sent my TA an email asking her for recommendations.

Ugh, I just really didn't expect what transpired.

Ugh I can see why June means so much to you :(

Hopefully your TA can recommend some other spots for you. I have only been to Mexico and Cuba, but my dad LOVED Aruba.  I loved Cuba too - not sure what their rainy season is.  Of course, being in Cuba there would be some compromises, but with the USA allowing trade again (I believe??) things may change.

I hope you guys can come to some sort of a compromise, but just remember -- just because it rained this week in 2015 doesn't mean it will in 2016!!!

Good luck!

Just as an FYI, tropical storm Bill just went through and made landfall in Galveston Texas yesterday morning. It dumped 10 inches of rain in about 8 hours so it was a storm loaded with rain. That's what you likely got caught in while in Mexico since they usually start in the Gulf if they're going to hit Texas. But it's absolutely something to think about. Hurricane season doesn't usually start until the end of June, and runs until the end of November. But this year has already been warm and the moisture will aid in getting a storm started. My husband and I were married in Jamaica and the people took great pride in telling us that Jamaica almost never gets hit by hurricanes so I don't know if that's a location you would consider. The Yucatan Peninsula is an area that frequently gets hit by storms - that's what has caused the alarm to be raised over beach erosion. Every time a hurricane goes through it takes more of the beaches with it.

I totally agree with @calgarybride2015  If the weather is a major concern for you, summer months in Mexico is probably not a great time to plan your wedding. While nothing is ever guaranteed, and the summer months could just as easily be spectacular as rainy, the odds are probably better if you change your date.

Good luck!

Past DRC brides, when you used an outside vendor for video or photography  did you have to get approval for the vendor  or company before hiring them? I just want to make sure if I hire a company they will be allowed in. Ive heard of some resorts having list of vendors that aren't allowed. Thank you!!

Just notify your WC of the vendor and provide the names of the stylists/photographers that will be there on you wedding day.

hello past brides.... Anyone had their wedding in the ballroom at DRC and use the ipod dock ? I want to know if the sound is loud enough for an actual ballroom or a DJ is needed for that room. Ive been told no other dj's are allowed other than the dj they offer.  Also anyone know if we are allowed to pick two choices on the menus to offer our guest before submitting the number and choice to the WC? the buffet price is increasing due to my guest count going up. Thanx for the help!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
