@@phdtck1 So at first I wanted purple maracas to match my colors but I really didn't want to pay the extra amount. So I decided the multicolor were fine after seeing another DRC brides pic

@@smileitseb :) Love love love!! I was originally thinking I would customize the maracas color too! Now if there is an additional charge then I may skip that idea all together. I like how the bride kept the variety in colors to make the favors more authentic to Mexico. How long did it take for the maracas mexico people to get back to you? I sent an email earlier this week and still have not received a response.

I love your wedding guest book..it is sooo unique!! I may try to do something like that as well! We took so much time on our wedding site that it would only make sense to create a book that is similar.  How did you create the book? Did you hire someone to print and bind it? We created a wedding timeline which will likely be a 5x7 size.

Did you send out official invitations? I should get mine next week - they look like boarding passes.  Do you have a large wedding party? I can't believe how close your wedding is..are you super nervous? My fiancé and I never visited Mexico, so we have no clue what to expect...but it makes it exciting!

@@phdtck1 thats weird they havent responded. did you use this email maracasmexico@yahoo.com ? i think they are pretty timely in their responses.

and thank you so much! i had a friend of mine design it in adobe illustrator then I sent the design to vista print. cut it myself then punched 2 holes in it and binded it with brads. it was NOT in our budget lol but i was determined to make it happen and it all cost me about $80

yes i sent out formal invitations -- passports for the invitiations and boarding pass RSVPs from weddingpassports.com i loves them so much! im sure you will love yours!!

we have 4 on each side, well 3 on his bc his cousin isnt coming anymore. do you? how many guests will u be having again? 80?

IM SO EXCITED LIKE I CANT EVEN FOCUS LOL. :) my friends and family keep talkign about it which makes me even more excited. have to finish a few things this weekend and pack and then ill feel ready!

@@smileitseb I sent an email to maracas mexico through their contact page. I will contact them through the email you provided- thanks!!

Your friend hooked you up! Your guests will definitely appreciate the sentimental touches that you are incorporating. You make each item functional and a keepsake at the same time!! I will definitely copy your guest pics idea. We spent alot of time creating our wedding website, so it only makes sense to add that touch as well!  (weddinginparadise.appycouple.com) I attached our draft timeline to be included in the welcome bag. We will also create a welcome tag/letter that will be attached to the bags.  We are also thinking of grabbing some tourist brochures so guests can learn about some ziplining activities, etc.  Do you have any kids coming?

David and I never visited Mexico but we love Mexican food and really had no choice but to plan a destination wedding. We just bought and renovated our home a year ago - proposed at our housewarming. So we knew having a wedding with at least 350+ guests would kill us. So instead, we invited the same 350+ people with the expectation that everyone would not show up - at least folks do not feel left out. To our surprise 80 people are planning to come - so our budget is a little off.  But it will work out.  I have 5 bridesmaids and David has 6 groomsmen (including his 12 year-old son) - Two of his groomsmen could not make it so he decided to replace 1. My oldest brother will walk me down the aisle and his oldest sister will read a poem etc. They are both officially in the wedding party but are not designated as a bridesmaid or groomsmen- instead they are honorary attendants. They both will light our unity candles after our parents as well.

Considering the fact that you have almost 60 people attending your wedding, you should try to negotiate a welcome party with the resort! We are going to try that! But you will see in the our wedding timeline that we have some events planned:

1.) Friday - welcome party then we want to travel to Coco Maya Night Club in Playa Del Carmen for a fun night!! Apparently it is on the beach and is open all night!! http://www.cocomayaplaya.com/. Oh we researched getting a party bus...after we got prices back we just laughed and said seriously??!!! So we may just take cabs from the hotel, etc. LOL

2.) Saturday - Ladies spa day (for the bridal party) during the day. Rehearsal, then rehearsal dinner (with wedding party and immediate family). Then following the dinner we will have a "Night Before Soiree" which we hope to congregate in the Desires night club at the resort - something low key, but people can get together and have fun

3.) Sunday Wedding day

4. Monday, Adios Amigos Brunch (Labor Day).  we plan to say goodbye to our guests. After that, we will travel to Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon.  It is at Excellence Resort.

@@phdtck1 girl first, youre not gonna believe this, but we are honeymooning at the SAME resort. is this real life? lol :)

love your website! i love how he proposed, so so sweet and i completely understand about the atlanta vs mexico wedding. 80+ will be so fun!!! we have no kids coming, do you, other than his son?

and yes i tried to negotiate a welcome party :/ but maybe i went about it the wrong way, because i just talked to my wedding coordinator and she said no they cant give it to me. I definitely should have pushed harder or went directly to the resort. Did you negotiate a free one? If so, good for you!

have you already scheduled your rehearsal? I always planned to have my rehearsal on Saturday but the gazebo was unavailable because I guess they were getting ready for other weddings etc. So we are having it Friday instead (not everyone will even be there yet but itll be okay)

we have been trying to figure out where we are going friday night so im going to look into the club youre going to! our wedding weekend is also the mayweather fight weekend and thats what all my guests will be doing saturday night LOL

bachelorette in NYC how fun is that?!!! love it!!

@@smileitseb OMG!! How is this even possible?!!! This is absolutely insane - My travel agent was bragging about Excellence saying they have unlimited lobster! I'm like sign us up!! LOL.  What room did you get? We decided to get the 2 story terrace. You have to share your experience with me..please don't forget this blog after you tie the knot!! Oh my goodness:)

Thanks for the compliment regarding our wedding site! It was fun creating it and we love the fact that the site has an app! It also creates push notifications, etc. So we will use it for wedding updates, etc. There are about 4 kids in total (including his son). I was sooo annoyed though because some people are trying to make our wedding a vacation - so some folks were trying to RSVP for more than their plus 1 saying they want to bring their kids to play with David's son. We eventually told folks that they can bring everyone they want, however, they are still limited to their plus 1 at our wedding and weekend events (crazy right?!! weddings are expensive!)

I think your travel agent needs to try to negotiate something! You are bringing a ton of people! I think I found a deal on this blog where it is showing that AM Resorts are running a special on weddings booked 1 year in advance - however, it only applies to new weddings. Here is what they offer:

Terms & Conditions

The Save Your Date promotion is valid on all new wedding bookings made a minimum of one year in advance of the wedding date at participating Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Breathless, Secrets, Dreams, Now and Sunscape Resorts & Spas (participating list below). With this offer, new bookings will receive a complimentary Welcome Cocktail Party for up to 50 guests.

we going to see if we can leverage this as I booked exactly one year in advance when this offer was non-existent - however there should be some comp they can do since this is being offered to new brides. It's not fair if you spend all of this money and they don't do anything for you. You need to ask your agent what deals she can negotiate. That goes for a wedding that is held in your hometown - things should be added and discounted to a certain degree. She needs to fight for you given the number of guests you have coming.

We did not schedule our rehearsal yet. We plan to schedule in the next week or so. As a matter of fact, I will ask my TA to do it now! LOL. I didn't realize that there could be a potential conflict.  We need to have  rehearsal when everyone is there.  Thanks for the tip!

Yes - check out the club! My TA told me it has a MIami vibe and is not touristy like Cancun. It should be fun!!

I know you are super excited!

@@smileitseb I would so meet up with you for drinks too! I hope you don't drop us after your wedding..you have awesome tips! No thoughts for the send off yet. I was on the maracas mexico siteand saw that they create shake me tags (I will probably create my own DIY tags) but I think it would be cool to ask our guests to shake them when they want us to kiss instead of hitting their glasses. I think the maracas will be cool for the send-off..it will force the guests to remember to keep them instead of leave them! hehe

Does it take a while for maracas mexico to get back to you? I sent an email a couple of days ago inquiring about their services, and I still did not hear back. Also, is everyone shipping their maracas to the resort or do you plan to ship them home?

Hehehe I did this. My maracas as from Amols!! Yes I'm reading your thread. Guess I'm in withdrawal

@@calgarybride2015 Kim you are welcomed here to chime in anytime, your tips have been so helpful! love the cute message on the maraca!!! did you make that up yourself? I'm trying to think of something cute to say on our tags to tell everyone to use it for our send off

@@phdtck1 i am absolutely kicking myself for not booking the 2 story room with the pool!!!! it was his job to book the honeymoon and i wasnt specific enough bc i just wanted it booked lol. but i think i can talk my fiance' into upgrading us :)

re:kids.........we actually had the same issue which made us say no kids at all. my fiance' doesnt believe we can tell ppl who to bring on their vaca and i said ok fine but i CAN determine who comes to my wedding lol. the ones that made a big fuss about bringing their kids arent even coming now...go figure.

re:rehearsal. originally she said we couldnt have our rehearsal saturday but i asked her again yesterday could we please have it saturday bc thats when everyone will for sure we there in time. i said we will even do it super early in the mroning and she made arrangements for us to have it at 10! but it will be good to get it on their calendar. i just found out theres a wedding the day before mine with 175 guests!

okay i just emailed my wedding coordinator and my TA the promotion, i dont know if its too late or not but definitely worth a shot! i paid for about 75% of our wedding yesterday. i hope you can get the free welcome party. please let me know if it works for u!!

the fact that your TA is helping you with where to club. i love my TA but she didnt do all that lol sounds like you have a great one!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
