Dreams Riviera Cancun 2015 Brides

Recommended Posts

I wanted to give you a heads up.

I got an email of a Bride I shot her wedding at Dreams Riviera Maya, the local company lost her wedding video (yes the one that charges the crazy outside vendor fee) according to her they tried to recover sending the memory card to several locations in Mexico.

This in house company should had sent the memory card to the manufacturer, they know better the memory card parts.

This is a best practice and the one I use in my photography, sadly many if not all no not care.

1.- I bought a camera that records twice the shot at the moment I take it, It means the second mack up is immediately created on the fly.

2.- First thing after the wedding I back up the pictures in 3 media storage devices, 1 available to work any time in my desk, 2nd one inside my safety box attached to the floor and wall, 3rd offsite.

3.- I do myself, the first 2 media storage devices records twice and has 5 hard drives inside each one.

I wish nothing but the best and I really hope you all brides out there care about this and make sure the photographer does not say I do back up but actually do.

Ivan

I wish people would not advertise in the resort threads.

Anyways - @@Brod63 yes, it's $1000 extra, but it includes chairs and tables. 6 weeks to go as of tomorrow and we leave in 38 days!

@@smileitseb Yeah, no fake petals allowed at all for throwing or sprinkling down aisle.

@@scancun Everything sounds great! I actually saw a cocktail hour in the main bar during one of my visits to DRC and it looked so nice. Especially to be out of the sun :-)

Here's what I have:

Package: Ultimate. 44 guests including bride and groom (we had one couple cancel due to passport issues)

Wedding party: best man, MoH, flower girl, ring bearer

WC: Claudia Solis

Wedding day Feb 23, we arrive the 18th (staying till 26th), everyone else comes sometime between Thurs-Sat.

Welcome dinner: Feb 22 south beach. Mexican buffet with Caribbean trio. Hair/makeup trial prior with Styling Trio, using our included videographer for this

Ceremony 4:30 Gazebo symbolic ceremony, hair/makeup with styling trio, videography with Indigo Weddings

Cocktail 6:30 Pool terrace with Mexican trio

Reception 7:30 Seaside Grille with platinum sit down menu (lobster and filet). We are having the DJ but no dance floor per our WC's suggestion.

We are almost done with everything, me and Claudia have finalized most of the decor (last minute things will be decided at final mtg), OOT bags done and packed away in carry ons, music done, dress alterations starting tomorrow, maracas ordered (to be delivered to hotel), fans for ceremony decorated with ribbon, menus/itineraries printed. All that's left is the guest book table! Have to figure out logistics of how we want it decorated and such.

It's all coming together!

Eek! You're almost there!! Congrats! :)

Couple of questions:

-What are you putting in your OOT bags?

-We did the ultimate package as well, but I see you are hiring for hair and make up.. that was a part of our package, so do you just lose the money on that or will they put it towards something else? And is there any reason you aren't doing it through the resort?

I'm sure I will have a MILLION more questions as our date gets closer.

Thanks so much! :)

@@nattiegams325 Thanks for sharing! You must be so excited girl!!! :)

I've decided to use MVP for my hair and makeup. I'm having a trial with them 3 days before my wedding. They are coming to the resort. I know the resort is going to charge me a fee for having this outside vendor, but I'm hoping I don't have to pay for both  visits.

Do you have to pay the outside vendor fee twice for your hair/makeup trial and day of the wedding styling?

Our OOT bags include our itinerary, a welcome letter, a medicine baggie (pepto, Advil, Tylenol, bandaid), aloe vera, gum, a puzzle book, cologne/perfume, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, chap stick, personalized deck of cards....I think that's all but I'll post again if I forgot anything! I'll also post pics later :-)

I went with Styling Trio because this is the only day of my life where I need to look perfect lol and I wanted the best. My mom had her hair done by them during one of our site visits and they did an incredible job. They're expensive, but it's worth it to me. I hear good things about the DRC spa for hair, but makeup is iffy. I am using the included hair/makeup on another night from the salon.

I dont know if I'll get another vendor fee. I told Claudia I was getting them during the site visit but she hasn't said anything since and I plan on keeping my mouth shut. I just told her I was getting my hair and makeup done by someone else. With the amount of upgrades we are getting, I would not be a happy camper to get another fee.

@@nattiegams325 thanks for sharing - it sounds like you are all set!   And I'll be sure we finish up my ceremony on time so they have time to set yours up!!  :)

The hair / makeup thing I debated on for awhile and I'm still a little concerned about having Dreams do my makeup.  So my back up plan is to meet with my sisters friend (who is a make up artist for photo shoots) and have her do my make up and give me a shopping list before going down there - just in case I'm not happy with how Dreams does it.   I do wonder how the heat will impact things though ---- I actually did look styling trio too actually - they sound pretty fantastic since they use the spray on make up and everything.

For the OOT bags we are doing pretty much the same stuff --- I am debating making Mexican Wedding Cookies to put in there too.......we'll see.....I'm not much of a baker and would have to do these right before leaving so they were still fresh. We shall see....I have never even had them, but I saw it on a blog somewhere and thought it was a cute idea.

@@nattiegams325 If you don't mind me asking, how much is the styling trio charging for hair/makeup? I can't decide what I want to do. :( I know that I want airbrush, but not sure if DRC offers it? And do you know how much the outside vendor fee is?

Thanks for being so helpful!

Hi ladies!! Pinning away on Pinterest with welcome bags and noticed it can get costly, esp with canvas bags.

Can you offer some insight as to what you're planning?  The cheaper route being Oriental Trading or something like that, I'm assuming?

Thanks!

Cory

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
