@@ChicVivi I haven't heard the greatest things about their services...very sketchy. I'm going with a local TA that I can meet with face-to-face (which I have!). She is a Dreams-certified agent and she's getting us lots of perks. We went with Apple Vacations packages which include free airfare for 1 for every...idk maybe like 10 or 11 people? We already have about 30-35 booked and are expecting about 10ish more so it's been working out well!

I talked to several TAs before making my decision. You have to kind of interview them, how is their website? Email/phone responsiveness? Experience in general and with destination weddings? Your guests will be booking with them and you want the experience to be as easy as possible for them! So don't be afraid to shop around.

That is so smart to interview different travel agencies. I did talk to several agencies but I feel like I should have shopped a bit more and that's amazing that you got free airfare! Did you every hear about the promotion.

Book five rooms, receive the sixth room free!

1 complimentary room upgrade for every 10 rooms per night paid!

Is that something that your travel agent mentioned to you?

Oh yes we know!! That'll save major $$. 35 have booked as of today and we think we'll end up with 40-45?!

What is everyone doing with outside vendors? Photog/videog/hair/makeup, anything else? I booked Styling Trio because I wanted an English-proficient team and I've heard wonderful things about them despite the $$ (I think it's worth the splurge!) and I wanted airbrush makeup. Still wondering if I should do photog/videog but Anel's pictures from the resort look really nice to me. I'm heading down next month for another site visit so I'll hopefully get to meet them then!

If anyone has requests for questions or pictures of locations, let me know and I'll do my best! I'll be down Sep 10-14.

Hi Ladies!  Our wedding is April 3, 2015 - I cannot wait!!  All the feedback here is so helpful!

We received the Excel budget planner, catalogs, etc. and are trying to figure out what we want to do for photog/videographer, DJ, etc...(any suggestions on videographers?)

BTW, when I added up everything I wanted, it came out to $17K! :-/ So now I'm working backwards to try and figure out what needs to be removed so I can get the budget down...

Right now our ceremony is booked for the Gazebo - but we LOVED the pictures of the Lobby Staircase and would consider moving the ceremony there - BUT, I'm not sure if those stairs are actually used as the main entrance to the lobby and will be high traffic, etc...anyone know about this?

Just a heads up: I saw a few comments on here about the special that gives you 1 free room for every 6 booked and then 1 free upgrade for every 10 rooms booked.  I thought I was getting this huge deal because we had so many rooms booked and then was severely disappointed to learn the fine print around this deal:

1 free room for every 6 booked --> max of 3 free rooms

1 free upgrade for every 10 rooms booked --> max of 2 upgrades

I might be the only one who didn't see the fine print but just wanted to point it out because we were planning on having several free room nights and wanted to split them up among our guests.  Even though it is still nice to have a few free room nights, I feel like we didn't get that great of a deal considering how many rooms/nights we booked with this resort - we didn't get a discount to speak of on the rooms themselves so the free room nights are the only real perk we got - besides it being such a beautiful resort.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi girls!

Our date has just been set for June 22, 2015! Cant wait!! All of this info is SO helpful!

Where is everyone having their reception? Right now ours is set for the pool terrace.. There are so many choices, I want to know what everyone else has planned.

Also, do y'all know if 6:00 P.M. is the latest you can have your ceremony? I think we want to scratch the cocktail hour in between the ceremony and reception (take pictures before) and just go straight to the reception.

Thanks for everyones' help!!

@@landryfrost We upgraded to the Seaside Grille for our reception! Cocktail hour on the pool terrace and ceremony at the gazebo. Gazebo vs beach are entirely different. The gazebo is not private (it's next to the pool), and not in the sand. The beach is....the beach! haha so it's up to you and your fiance's preferences! Personally, we wanted the gazebo for the look of it and my fiance wants to wear nice shoes (hence no sand). I don't mind the people watching, I think it adds to the fun :-)

@@Beaner82 I'm just a couple weeks after you!! Feb 23 :-) We're not doing anything on wedding day on the beach, but we may do the welcome reception there the night before!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
