@@nattiegams325 thanks lady! i was thinking the same thing. and great idea for maracas for favors. Are you getting them personalized with you and your fiance's name and wedding date?

Has anyone witnessed a wedding there recently? We are getting married at the gazebo and I've been a little worried about the resorts guests ruining pics and being a distraction.

Also, since this resort is more than just the $1 bus ride down to the Cancun strip of partying, are you planning for your guests to go elsewhere when/if they want to step outside the resort?

@@smileitseb I'm not sure if we'll get them personalized but there is a company out of Texas (I've seen them through other brides' posts) that does great maracas for favors! I'll try to find the name.

I also saw 2-3 weddings there in feb. Guests are very respectful of the wedding. With that said, you are on the pool deck and people in bikinis will be watching/turn their chairs to watch haha but if anyone is too close or in the photogs way the wedding coordinators do a great job of shoo-ing them away. They used to block off the gazebo from the pool with white curtains but I saw that in pictures from 2010 and didn't see it happen when I was there so maybe it's not offered anymore.

How long as you ladies staying? My fiancé and I are staying 9 days with most family members staying a week, not sure about friends yet.

Are you planning on staying with your fiancé the whole time? I know they're supposed to give him a free room the night before but i kind of planned on not staying with him till the wedding day! Maybe it would be confusing if the hotel wants to give us upgrades and stuff. I feel like I'm worrying too much. Thoughts?

@@nattiegams325 wow I was just trying to figure this out! We are staying at DRC Friday - Monday and then moving to another hotel for the honeymoon for a week. I'm not staying with my fiance until our wedding night (Sunday) so Friday and Saturday I was trying to figure out how to do this. I was thinking staying with my mom Friday and Saturday and then having my mom and him switch rooms for Sunday? I dont know!

Are you staying in the honeymoon suite? Trying to decide on that too! I want a room where my bridesmaids and I can get ready and all that but not sure if its necc to pay the honeymoon suite money...

We are planning to go thurs-tues (Sunday wedding) then go up to the new secrets playa mujeres resort that's opening in November and staying there through the following Sunday.

I read that (based on availability) the groom gets a room the night before the wedding. I think we definitely won't stay together but I also don't know if I want to stay alone. I may have my cousin stay with me!

So I just happened to check the prices on the website for wedding packages. I already booked the Dreams of Love wedding package a few months ago at the $2499 price but now I see the prices went up. I emailed David to see if they will honor the price at which I signed the agreement but he hasn't responded yet. Does anyone know the answer?

Hello Dreams Riviera Cancun planners! This is a fabulous venue for weddings, from a photographer's perspective we love the architecture and the area options for ceremonies and receptions. The gazebo is totally unique. It is totally possible to get great photos without strangers in the background (though sometimes those are the fun shots!) Maracas are a great idea for gifts, such fun to have an alternative to clinking the glasses for a kiss. Many brides do their OOT bags here in Playa del Carmen, there are souvenir shops everywhere but Walmart is a good bet for all your needs, sunblock, keychains, kitsch, whatever you need.

Here are some inspiration photos for you, enjoy! Please peruse our blog posts for Dreams Riviera Cancun weddings too!

That's what I'm trying to figure out!!! Do we just book a regular room and expect them to upgrade us??? That's what I was planning...Hahaha or do we stay with others and then have people switch rooms after the wedding? I feel like I'll just wing it. Maybe see what my travel agent recommends based on her experience with them.

After my site visit I was given all the prices, then when I confirmed my date 2 weeks later the prices magically went up by a few hundred. I'm going to ignore the price increase and tell them I only received the first quote. Because I smell bullsh*t....I also emailed them asking about prices but they never responded

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
