That's wonderful. I'm so excited to get stared with the specific planning process. :) Just wondering how the resort was for a large age group I have 6 year olds to 70 year olds coming..

Its not bad at all actually.  We too, had a wide range of ages (babies to 85 years old.  There is lots to do and the resort is massive!

Hey! Congrats! I'm getting married here too on February 27, 2015 at the Grand Sunset Gazebo with the private beach party reception! So excited about! We've booked an outside photographer, Fabrizio with Fine Art Studio Photography. I'm just having a difficult time deciding on decor since I don't want to bring too much with me and risk paying the over charges at customs! Any one know of any good decor options in the area?  Thanks!

Hey,

Congrats on your wedding! We also booked an outside photographer as we didn't hear many great things of the onsite one. Decor I'm in the same situation as you are. I mainly want candles. Where are you getting married? The gazebo? What's your time 2pm or 4pm? We did 2pm only because our photographer said if its at 4pm and it gets dark by 6 we'd have to hurry for photos. I was almost wondering if I could order decor online and get them shipped to the hotel? I wonder if thats an option? Let me know what you decide. :)  :)

Does anyone know how much the chill out bar for the reception is? I e-mailed my WC but haven't heard back.

thanks!

I was quoted $100/ person with a minimum of 40 people. Hope that helps.

Ditto on the $100/person with a minimum of 40 people. (or at least paying for 40, even if you have a few less bodies).

Just a note on decor, I asked the WC about it, and she said nothing with fire. So make sure you get those fake tea lights!

Thanks for the info! I didn't know nothing with fire. I guess I'll be stocking up on the flameless tea lights.

We are paying $4000 for the Chill Zone with way less than 40 people

We are too! I anticipate 29 or 30 people, but I'm still paying the $4000 for private party. I'm not looking at it as $100 per person, I'm just thinking to myself that regardless of guest count, that is how much the party costs! :) It looks amazing though. I just wish I could justify spending $1800 on the acrylic dance floor.. instead of stumbling in the sand... :)

I'm going to check what we were quoted for the acrylic dance floor. I didn't think it was that expensive. We are such a small group that I don't think we would use it. Are you having a DJ?

Originally I was like YES definite dance floor, definite DJ. But now I'm wondering with a small group, if that many people are going to be dancing at that time. We will of course head to the disco when the parties over at 10pm so there will be opportunity for dancing. I may just rent the sound equipment and hook up my iphone - i think there's an app that kind of flows one song into the next so there's no pause in music and that might be sufficient instead of paying $650 for DJ! and I suppose we can stumble in the sand..

And we will also need the sound equipment and music for the first dance/father daughter dance! ahh that would all go so much better on the dance floor... :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
