Hello!!

My fiance and I have decided on Grand Sunset Princess as well for our wedding and hoping to have it in August of 2015, but we have not secured our date yet!  We still havent decided on any of the details but not sure if we will have enough guests for a private dinner.  Has anyone attended a semi private dinner in one of the resturants? If so any details would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Smcneeley,

Whats the number for a private dinner?

What are some people doing for the music for when you walk down the aisle?

Hello,

We are getting married in January 2015 too! Which day are  you?

Hi Ladies,

We just booked our wedding for Jan 2015! We are very excited and can't wait to get the ball rolling on details. Just wondering if there are any other brides out there that are planning a wedding at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort & Spa as well? I would love to hear your take on it so far.

April :)

Hi.

I am new to all of this but I will be having a July 2015 wedding. My TA has sent me some information about this resort but I was wondering if anyone else had more. Are there specific locations to say your vows, restaurants and can you pick your own bouquet, flowers etc.?

Sorry for all the questions I'm just feeling a little lost. Thanks

Hi, we are getting married at GSP April 6 2015 @ 4pm at the Sunset Gazebo.

I want my sister-in-law and friend to play guitar and sing our walking down the isle song.

I need to find out if I can rent guitars or if they need to bring their own.

Our guest list is rather large, just immediate family and wedding party is 40, not including extended family and friends....so we are debating what a good reception option is, and not spend a fortune.

I think for dinner we are just going to use one of the buffets due to our large number of guests, since we can't seat more than 40 at a restaurant. Besides we already all paid to eat, why pay again?

We are bringing our photographer with us from home, (Grande Prairie AB)

Hi Ladies,

I just had my wedding at the GSP in April 2014.   Ours was held at the Sunset gazebo (loved it)!!!, and we had a full beach dinner and reception.  Our wedding coordinator was Jackie and she was amazing.  Of course it is always hard emailing back and forth as you don't really know what to expect when you arrive, BUT it was so stress free.  We met with her the next day and she had everything organized by the minute and we were able to add all the little touches that we wanted.  We choose the light up dance floor.  If it is in your budget, it is worth it!! We had endless compliments on it, and at one point during our reception, the entire boardwalk was full of other hotel guests from a distance watching our party.  It was pretty neat! No, we didn't have any wedding crashers lol.  We do have a video of the ceremony if anyone ever wants to know what it looks like at the sunset gazebo.  It is on youtube under "Clark and Lanoue ceremony". We hired an outside photographer....Photos in Cancun they were called, also awesome!

Good luck to you all and if anyone ever has any questions, please feel free to ask :) I know how hard it is to plan a wedding from so far away, and sometimes, even the littlest things help!

Hey! Yes you're right, the wedding food was awesome!! We went with the Caribbean buffet and ppl LOVED it! You need to be over 40 people for the beach dinner :)

As for the resort food...It was pretty good.  Breakfast was the usual like most resorts, and I had no issues with it.  We only had 1 person complain about the food, and to be honest, she complains about everything lol.  I went to the Italian, Steakhouse, Japanese and International a la cartes and had no issues.  There are so many courses to choose from that you are bound to find something.  The food isn't comparable to say Secrets or The royal, but overall our guests (60 ppl) were happy with the food.

Hi!

There are 2 locations for your ceremony (and I think a 3rd that you have to pay extra for).  I would recommend the sunset gazebo, it is much more private.  You can have your reception (semi private) in a restaurant if you have 40 people or less, otherwise you have to choose something else.  You get to pick all of your flowers and pretty much everything you want for your day.  Hope that helps :)

That's wonderful. I'm so excited to get stared with the specific planning process. :) Just wondering how the resort was for a large age group I have 6 year olds to 70 year olds coming..

@nikkicraig10

What are you doing for a photographer? Are you having a videographer? Any recommendations?

Luckily my fiance's Step Dad is passionate about photography so he is going to shoot our wedding for us. I'm so excited about that because then there is no time constraints, limitations on photo selection, etc. Not to mention saving a lot of money! (Which is why it doesn't seem so bad for us to splurge on the Chill Out party)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
