Now Sapphire Brides Out There?

Recommended Posts

My wedding is planned here for 2015. Any insights on how to ship or not ship wedding stuff to the resort? What about flowers? The resort is costing an arm and leg for flowers for a 20min ceremony? Are you using an outside vendor or bringing your own silk flowers?

Hi,

I am having the same issue...however, my wedding is in Jamaica. My friend was married in Cancun last year and shipped items to the resort. Well the packages never made it through customs and they were never returned. She had to file a claim with FedEX, and they reimbursed her but she had to buy all new favors and decorations in Cancun prior to the wedding. It was very stressful for her.

In light of that ordeal, I am thinking of trimming down my decorations and just getting them from the resort.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Happy planning!

@lisadra- there is an entire forum for NOW Sapphire brides. In the search box type in NOW SAPPHIRE and you will see a link that says NOW SAPPHIRE formerly paradius. It's about 200 pages of info from other brides. Happy Reading!

Also I am getting married at Now sapphire on June 7th so here is some information from your questions above:

DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING TO THE RESORT. There are also numerous posts on this forum about shipping to mexico. It is 99% chance it will never make it through customs. What I am doing is bringing down duffel bags ( checking them on the way down) then once they are empty stuff all the duffle bags into one larger bag and only check one bag on the way back. I am trying to be efficient in what I bring down but my entire family is traveling with me so they can each check an extra bag.

Another thing to note. You can not have more than $300 of goods in each suitcase so make sure you bring your receipts when you go through customs. Ive' read that since there are so many weddings they usually are good about knowing it's for a wedding and not that you are trying to sell things in mexico but I would have the receipts broken out for each suitcase anyway.

As for flowers I am using an outside vendor. They were MUCH cheaper and as long as someone meets her outside the door of the resort you don't have the pay the outside vendor fee. So my friends are going to meet he florist outside the hotel and bring the flowers into the wedding coordinator to be set up.

I am going to use the flowers I am given from the divine package but the extra centerpieces I'm going with a n outside florist. Also if you are on a tight budget I've seen beautiful centerpieces that people made themselves. Very simple but quite beautiful. You can click on the forum tab then on the DIY section and type in "centerpieces" and you'll get all sorts of ideas

I hope this helps. I'll let you know how it goes when I'm at the airport with all my bags. So many brides have posted abou ttheir experience and they were all positive so I'm not too worried.

Let me know what else you need.

Hi!!  I am getting married in June at NOW Sapphire and I was advised not to chi to the resort.  I am going to bring the stuff I need for favors and OOT bags in suitcases.  I am using the hotel vender for flowers.  They are very pricy but I didn't want to be bothered coordinating with an outside vendor.

Thanks for the info! Have a beautiful wedding in June! Did you go with any of the wedding packages? I'm going with the Devine and have no idea what bouquet it comes with. My TA says the hotel won't really respond to my questions until 6-8 months before my wedding.....and I am however an impaitent Sally and want answers already.... :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I was married April 26th at Now Sapphire and I shipped 3 large boxes to the resort and did not have any problems with customs. The only problem I had is that some of my items were damaged but it wasn't any of my major decorations so it was no biggie to me. Keep in mind when shipping that you not only pay the cost to ship the item but you also have to pay custom taxes and fees. For my 3 boxes I paid FedEx $380 which was a discounted rate through my job and the custom taxes were $250, so it can be every costly. In hindsight, the beautiful ocean view is all you need for the wedding and it's free...all the extras was totally not worth the it because the ocean views are amazing.

I am having my wedding at the now sapphire April 18,2015 and very confused about the room blocks. I got a room block contract from Xochitl and it looks like they are reserving the rate for $290 for a double occupancy room (same as hotels website) and not even guaranteeing that the rooms will be available! I also told her that we would need more rooms for our wedding an she said that's all try can do. How is everyone else's reserving the rooms and what rates do you have?

Also it didn't mention anything about getting the 6 or 7 room free. Where did you guys see that and how do I et set up with that promo?

Thank you for all your help!!

We just got married at NOW Sapphire on April 23rd and didn't ship any decor or wedding items in advance in fear that they either wouldn't make it at all or they would arrive damaged.  Instead, we brought an extra suitcase and packed some of our items (padded in bath towels or clothing, I might add) and checked them like regular luggage.  With items that were breakable (like our favours), we brought rolling carry-ons with us and packed them in those.  Everything arrived safely, thank God.  However @@niknic456 has a great point in regards to using the natural beauty of your surroundings as your decor.  Don't go overboard and stress yourselves out.  No one will be looking at the decorations anyway ... they will be look at YOU :)

Has anyone had string/ market lights? The only thing in finding down there are the Chinese paper lanterns. If so where did you get them and how much were they? I'm wanting to cover the reception area with them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
