So, I am going dress shopping (!!!) in exactly 2 weeks. My vision is to purchase this dress or a similar style. Our ceremony will be on the beach and I want to do the barefoot sandals. My fiance doesn't want to wear a suit - he's afraid of being too hot ( and I don't want to risk him looking sweaty-nasty in photos) so he'd like to have a more relaxed look. Do yall think this would look ridiculous??

LOVE this dress!! Is this the one you ended up going with?

I loved 2 dresses and the one I didn't get due to budget was one just like this but strapless. Beautiful!!!!!!!

I'm slightly jealous of all of you who have gotten the guys into even linen pants. I have worked my way up to black pinstriped board shorts with a belt and a long sleeve button down shirt, and it was a fight to get to that point. I read this last night and suggested a vest, and he was like just a vest? So ridiculous!

OMG! My fiancé is so complicated when it comes to his attire. It's driving me a little nuts!! I thought we had agreed that he would wear dress pants and a vest. The other day he comes and he says he's wearing a suit. I thought we had agreed that he's going to be boiling in that suit but he wants to wear one and is so pigheaded about it. He said "yeah I'll just ask for the ceremony to be 10 min, bam, we take the pictures and I'll change" I told him that it's our wedding and people are traveling for us, I'm definitely not having a 10 min ceremony! And secondly he's going to look like he's in a bad mood on all of the pictures because he'll be so hot. You do not tell a woman "I'll be uncomfortable but I'll suck it up" because after years of wearing heels and other uncomfortable fashion items, we know that you do not simply suck it up when you're uncomfortable. I don't know what else to do at this point. Get him another outfit behind his back and then tell him "I told you so?" Agrhh!

LOL   I didn't want my fiance in anything more than this!  I guess he is lucky :)

I might even change the dress shirt to a fancy golf shirt - going to look this weekend to see what I think!

Yeah I'm ok with it now, but originally he wanted to just be in board shorts, I drew the line at that, my dress is pretty fancy so a shirt was required!! I agree with other posters let him wear what he wants (within reason) if your both comfortable, you'll both be happier!

Funny to see this as a topic! My FI and I have been talking about this since we were engaged. I want to have dressy attire. I find that it looks so amazing with the lush backdrop of the tropics. I see pictures of people getting married in shorts and untucked short sleeve shirts and i find that it looks so sloppy. I dont want to be walking around in a beautiful wedding dress and spend almost $15K on a wedding to then look back at the pictures and see everyone looking slopping. Additionally, we are getting married in August because his family has many small children in school so we can only go during the summer. At first I wanted a full suit but we are probably going to settle on dress pants with a vest and long sleeve shirt with the sleeves neatly rolled up. We can take a few pictures with the suit jacket on or flung over his shoulder. We plan to have a very short ceremony and focus on the reception.. party party!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
