Any Other Simple Decor Brides Out There?

@@Surfingsara

It will all fall into place :)

I am also going very simple I made my bridesmaids bouquets (which will double as our centrepieces) as well as the groomsmen boutenirs. The only real flowers we will have are my bouquet and my FI boutenir and that's because they are part of our package.

They will be the only decorations we will have for our day, I think the location will an amazing backdrop for our pictures. I don't want to take away from the view.

We decided the we were doing a DW to be cheaper, private and much smaller.

I sometimes get caught up on the site reading all the amazing things everyone else is doing sways my mind and opinion sometimes but my FI is great keeping me on track :)

Sorry I kinda went on a ramble there! Oops

I am hoping for the same thing. Things will fall into place.

I am willing to pay a little more to have hotel cover more of the decorations. I started doing the math and if I purchase and travel with some of the extras, it only ends up saving me less than $200 compared to the current quotes from the resort. Peace of mind and less bags to travel with is worth $200..I have seen some brides on this site suggest sharing decorations if you dont mind another's color scheme... Not sure how practical that is for me. I do like the idea of adding my personal touch... just got to keep it simple.

good luck in your planning as the months pass by.. I have selected my resort, my site is up for reservations, so now, on to decorations and theme..

@@Kayla88 I was thinking of doing "fake/real touch" flowers for the bridesmaids. My maid of honor would rather have a wrist corsage, so I'm thinking these would be easy to make and bring with us. Where did you get your flowers from? I've seen some really good YouTube videos on how to make corsages with real flowers, I just dont know if real touch will be the same to work with?

I was going to just to a starfish for the guys.

I get so inspired by ladies on this site, but then I have to remember, I dont have endless time to make all of this happen.

@@Montana you make a good point, if its only a small difference, then it might be better to let the resort handle it! I'm sure it will save me some stress!

I'm wanting simple, not a bunch of stuff to bring. Trying to determine exactly what I should focus on can be stressful. I've come to the conclusion that everything will fall into place.

My thoughts that everything will just fall into place is kinda happening... I have my whole outfit ( dress, veil, earrings <-- just got these yesterday, I'm so excited, I dont know how I'm going to keep them in a box until my wedding.) I just need to purchase my shoes, I have them picked out just haven't hit, order yet. We just need to get a shirt for my fiancé, its picked out, we are just hoping for end of season markdowns. We got his pants this way for a 1/4 of the cost! The bridesmaids dresses are picked out, and the both love the dress and color!!

When I step back and think about it, a lot is already done. Save the dates and invitations seem to be the hardest thing for me right now. I found ones I like, but I dont want to spend a bunch of money on a paper products. I've started to make a passport as a pre wedding mailer. But haven't finished it yet.

@@Surfingsara our dates are a week apart so we're clearly thinking of the same things at the same time! I've been trying to figure out any decor (since it is one of the things we CAN figure out now while we're waiting on guests to confirm) and it is so easy to get caught up in amazing, gorgeous ideas! But with our guest count looking higher than expected and not wanting to carry a ton of stuff down there, I'm really trying to keep it simple! We aren't even doing a bridal party to help keep it simple and less expensive for both us and our would-be bridal party.

I think we've narrowed it down to:

Fans on the ceremony chairs (because it is going to be June in Jamaica and HOT)

Turquoise satin chair sashes - use same ones on ceremony and reception chairs.

Burlap table runners

Framed table number

Tall vase with starfish or sea shells

Small votive candles

I'm still debating if I want to do a combo menu/thank you card at each place setting as well...TBD on that one :)

I think I'll need one other table that has our escort cards (we'll have to have something to identify entree choice for our guests otherwise I wouldn't bother), guestbook, and the cake so I might do a runner and votives on that table too, but no cake topper.

No extra decor for the ceremony location or huppa - just the standard white fabric - and I'll use the bouquet that comes with my package.

Even though I think that isn't a lot, when I list it out it still kind of seems like a lot...Ha!

We have very similar stuff :)   I am packing now so I can let you know how it goes haha!!

I believe I went fairly minimal too and I didn't want anything breakable.

@@beckys98 I saw a really cute thank you card on Esty today. It was one that you print yourself, so it keeps cost down. Ill try and post a link in the morning.

I also like your fan idea! Your right about the heat. I saw a parasaw today that looked interesting. They were $5.00 each. I'm not having that many people coming, so I may do this. I'm still undecided.

Chair sashes are a nice touch! My resort has white chair covers as part of our package, and they kinda look plain to me. I'd rather bring them than get them from the resort as I believe they were very expensive. Where did you get yours? Or have you gotten them yet?

I'm not doing an escort card or table numbers as we will have less than 15 people. Maybe only 13 people.

I love this thread--I get stressed out looking at everyone else's amazing pictures because they have SO much detail in their decorations that I can't even wrap my mind around it.  It's nice being reassured that you don't need a million different decorations to have a beautiful ceremony and reception!  Here's what I have so far that I can think of off the top of my head:

We're making centerpieces pretty similar to these.  My mom ordered one similar to this off Etsy to use as a guideline:

il_570xN.655628269_6q9w.jpg

We also got funky little pieces of drift wood to use along side them.

Table runner and chair sashes (resort) I know most people bring down that stuff, and it is kind of expensive, but it was just lest thing to have to buy and lug down and bring back, so I think I'm just going to splurge and let the resort do it.

Cake topper (You and Me Married By the Sea)

Pink and orange chinese lanterns with lights.

Seashell placecard holders that double as favors.

This seashell garland that I have no clue what I'm going to do with but it was just too cool to pass up:

il_570xN.627523313_is1r.jpg

I'm planning on printing menus with a thank you on them to add a little more color to the tables.

I just don't know how much more I should get.  I want it to look nice and polished without going crazy.  Any suggestions on things you minimalists still think are must-haves?  I'm thinking maybe something for the cake table?

You could hang the garland from any of the main tables - the head table, cake table, or guestbook table.

I think you should have a guestbook (don't think you mentioned it) and maybe a couple pictures of the bride and groom.  I got my frames from Michaels - they are plastic and 2 sided - 1 side has the table number and the other side of a picture of us.  They came in multiple colors.

I am also letting the resort supply the linens, chair sashes, etc.   I can't can't stomach paying for something like that, even if it is cheaper ---- I would have to lug it down and I would have to try to re-sell it.

I am not doing anything on the cake table -- they use the flowers from the ceremony on the cake table and head table.

Other than maybe a few cables for the tables, you have some great pieces :)

Hi Ladies!

Happy Wednesday :)

I just wanted to see if there was any other ladies on here who are having a simple wedding in terms of decoration and such? I keep looking through the forum here and seeing such wonderful ideas from other ladies so I feel like maybe I should do more?

I know every bride is different and it's just not me to spend tons of money on décor. Don't get me wrong, I am bringing down things for the tables and for the card table and lighting (Getting married at a beach club) and it's not going to look empty, I just am not spending the money on flowers or candles or for our ceremony décor like other women are... Not that anything is wrong with spending money on those things though!

Anyone else similar? LOL It would make me feel better!

I can't decide if I am or not, haha.  Part of me wants to do lots of decor in bright, vibrant tropical colours, and another part of me just wants to keep it simple with subdued colours and just a few touches here and there.  I change my mind daily.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
