Anyone Who Was Torn Between Dreams Riviera Cancun & A Karisma Resort?

Recommended Posts

I am torn between Dreams Riviera Cancun & going with one of the Karisma resorts (Azul Sensatori or Generations Riviera Maya).  I have found they both have their positives and negatives.  So far I have seen Karisma charges an $800 outside vendor fee (which is outrageous) and Dreams charges a $300 outside vendor fee.  They both have free wedding packages with different things included.  I will be going to visit in July and I am hoping this will help.

I was just curious if there was anyone else who was torn between Dreams vs Karisma and how you decided?

Thanks!

I was going back and forth but in the end chose Karisma... The good is far surperior from what I have been told (I have stayed at Dreams previously), and the modern decor with amazing family amenities sold me on it as the perfect destination to have our guests join us for our wedding. The vendor fees are rediculous with Karisma but the resorts are second to none and the on site planners are amazing from what past brides report.

I too have been going back and forth between AM Resorts - (Dreams / Now) and Karisma ( El Dorado / Generations)! I live in Edmonton AB and just returned from EDR and Generations Maya Riviera! I was blown away at the amazing service, food, and decor! The only complaint and reason to consider any other Hotel Group was the beach.  I wish Karisma had a property in the Domincan as my indecisiveness would be no more!

May I ask who you used for a Travel Agent for your group booking? I have guests from Calgary and Edmonton and want to find that amazing agent who will negotiate a great rate and get it done!

Good Luck with your wedding!

I agree.  The beaches are not that nice and that is the one thing I really want considering I will be getting married on the beach.  The beaches at the majority of the Karisma resorts aren't as nice as some of the ones we have in the United States in Florida.  This is truly what I am having the hardest time with.  The Dreams Riviera Cancun looked like it had a little nicer of a beach but I won't truly know until I go visit in July.

I was torn between the two but then I found Now resorts price dropped a lot after April so we went with them.

I also like the lower vendor fee since we are for sure using an outside dj. For the photographer we are saying they are a guest and will just get a room for the night- since the hotel cost for a night is cheeper than the vendor fee.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
