Are you doing favors at your AHR? I was thinking of keeping ours Jamaica themed and making little jars of jerk seasoning, maybe also a Jamaican bottle opener or something. Does that sound like a good idea for favors?

I think the little jars of Jerk seasoning sounds super cute! Are you going to do custom labels or tags for it too?  You could also do mini bottles of rum to go with the seasoning.

We aren't doing an AHR. :( My fiance feels it defeats the purpose of having a DW and I've given up on trying to convince him otherwise.

@@danielleandryan2015 Love that idea! It would be super easy and probably inexpensive but so cute!

@@girlinthecity97 I have to be honest I agree with your fiancé. The reception is the most expensive part, so I don't get why people have full fledged AHR's. With that said I am not one to talk since we are having a whole other wedding ceremony here at home in the church. because of this we will be doing a small dessert reception afterwards, but it will be very minimal.  I don't plan on doing any favours though for this one.

I've thought about doing the Jerk seasoning too! Have you thought about where you'll get the seasoning? I'd like to find some while I'm in Jamaica!

@@csho yes I have looked into it a bit and I think it will be very cost effective! Also we debated a lot about whether to do an AHR, and ultimately decided why not? We have many friends/family that arent' able to attend the ceremony and basically told us we had to have a reception when we come home! So I am all for it. We are doing very simple and small in Jamaica, not paying for a reception there so we will not be doing any dances, etc. until we come home. I'm excited!

@@crspoon10 I don't think I am going to bring it back from Jamaica as I am not sure how that would go over w/ customs and also the cost to bring pounds of it back home! But I did google and found some authentic Jamaican jerk in bulk that was only like $35 for 9lbs of it! That will definitely be enough. I can't remember the site off hand, I will have to get back to you on that. I also found some cheap seasoning jars online that are only about 20 cents each!

That's true. I wondered if that would even be possible. Yes, please keep me posted if you find the site (and jar) info! That would be great! :)

Don't think we will be doing AHR now. Everyone will be at the actual wedding which we didn't expect. I feel like it will be a waste to pay all that money for a few cousins from his side and mine.

We were doing the same insulated mugs that were going in OOT bags as favors. They are personalized.

I really like the idea of the little jerk seasoning spice jars, it's so cute.  I don't think we will do favours for our AHR when the time comes.  Does that look cheap?  I want to do really elaborate OOT bags for our guests so I wasn't thinking of doing favours for the AHR.  I thought we could make some candy skewers if we really wanted to do favours for the AHR.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
