Formal Invites A Must?

Hey ladies and congrats!!! I had originally posted this under the invitation forum, but got no responses... So I'm tying it out with my fellow newbies!!! Let me know what you think please!!!

My fiancee and I are really thinking of NOT doing formal invitations for our wedding.... We really do not want to have the extra cost.... We created a wedding FB page and plan on doing facebook invites.... We do not expect a large turn out and don't think it's necessary to do the formal invites when everyone has a FB these days....

We sent out save the dates which had the facebook page link on it....

What are your thoughts on this ladies???

They look good, but I don't get the second photo. It says we (mustache) you to shave the date. But it doesn't say ask in there. I didn't know if the mustache represents something and I am just not getting it lol!

Oh is it suppose to be we "must ask you"?

Sorry sometimes these things take me a little while to get lol!

We're not doing formal invitations. Desintation weddings can be as casual or formal as you want so I don't think there is really an "etiquette." We're just sending save the dates to those invited to the destination wedding and on the save the date there is our website url they can go to for more info. We plan on sending out annoucements with a pic from our wedding inviting people to our at-home recepetion. I believe our save the dates were about $48 for 30 (it would have actually been cheaper but I accidently ordered 5x7 and not 4x6 postcards)....I ordered them on Zazzle.com.

are there really any "Musts"?!?!?

I think the beauty of individual weddings is exactly that...reflects everyones' individuality :)

In my opinion, it's more important to be true to yourself, than try to follow whatever "society-norms" are in vogue at the moment....but that's just me - hehe :)

Hope all your weddings are exactly what You envision.....or even better, be yourselves and you'll rock -  wedding couples!!!

Nothing is a must when you're planning a destination wedding that isn't traditional. Do what feels right. We are sending formal invites out because our family has requested them but I was on the fence.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
