I am bringing a LOT of my decorations and my string lights. They're charging me $500 for the decorating and $300 for putting the lights up. Ridiculous. It's like highway robbery.

Hi ladies! My travel agent went to the resort recently so I wanted to share her photos with you all. There are a lot and they're really helpful! http://pbdw.smugmug.com/Azul-Fives-Resort-Riviera-Maya/i-JXFVspz

@@Smellsey I had a few who couldn't pay the deposit, but my travel agent managed to get them to hold the room for them. Maybe try that?

@@Lilgabri03 I feel like the travel agents I have spoke with keep pushing the hotels they have relationships with.

that can be true, but maybe check out the different hotels that different TA's suggest that meet your requirements and then book the one you like the most with the TA that has a relationship with it. I find that way you can get way better deals if you do that. At the end of the day, if you're not set on one hotel 100% it's better to go with one that will give you nice perks, and one way to do that is to book through a TA that works with them.

The hotel we originally wanted was giving us no perks at all, maybe because our TA hasn't worked with them too much. Anyway, she suggested Azul Fives because it met our requirements of nice venues not on the beach, our price range, and the fact that it was close to nightlife. I actually think it was a better choice than our first choice and we hadn't even heard about this hotel before. So, I could say that maybe she swayed us this way, but at the same time she listened to what we wanted and suggested something that had most, if not all of it. So shop around the different suggestions you have been given and then book what better meets your needs and wants, with a TA that can get you the deals!

Any suggestions as far as seating for the wedding cocktail hour?  I don't want people to have to stand for the whole time, but their seating options are so expensive- $50 per high cocktail table chair??

Where are you having your cocktail hour? We're having it on the Sky Terrace. I originally thought I'd have to rent lounge furniture but then I asked my WC if we'd have both the terrace and Zky Lounge, and it turns out we do (since we're having a 100+ wedding), so folks that wanna sit (and be inside in the shade) can do so in the Zky Lounge.

Hello everyone. My wedding is on May 23, 2015. After reading all your comments, I'm glad i'm not the only one stressing out about prices, the WC, vendors, etc. it is very frustrating to plan a destination wedding. I'm considering to get some of the decorations for the reception on my own and just bring everything with me the day of the wedding. I did hire a photographer and video from an outside vendor. I'm considering to find a local florist and see if they can make my center pieces for the reception.

I visited the resort back in September and everything looks like the pictures you see online. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I asked one of the WC of the resort if it was possible to work directly with them, but unfortunately we have to use Karisma. In my experience with Karisma, i'm very disappointed with the service. My WC from Karisma  take days if not weeks for her to respond back to my emails. I tried to change my WC , but they told me I cant. :(  it is sad because my WC is in charge of the preparation and coordination of my wedding and if something goes wrong she is not going to be there to fix it.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas of things that i can bring or make that will help to save money??

Lomas-Karisma prices are outrageous and the things the offer for that price are not that glamorous.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
