Sooo...I  just had my first conference call with my wedding person and so far so good, I started getting pricing but they are saying $250 for a table of 8?? That just seems so ridiculous to me, that doesnt even include centerpieces. At that rate, I can just buy some tableclothes and napkins myself and call it a day!

Yes, this is the rate for the magical moments table settings, and the main reason why so many karisma resort brides bring down many (if not all) of their decor with them!

@@mazarin - Congrats!!

@@Lilgabri03 - instead of choosing a memorable moments setup, create your own. White linens and either uncovered garden chairs or covered chairs with white bows are included in the package.

You can do a table runner and some nice flowers. I think that's the route we are going to go. A colored table runner to match our wedding colors, nice floral centerpiece, scattered rose petals and votives.

Thanks! Yea, I am communicating with my wedding person now, She is averaging about one week in response time but I am not trying to stress since I have a year to plan and thank goodness I read a lot of posts that show they take so long to respond! I aksed her in my last email if we can pick and choose from the  memorable moments package, lets see what she says. They really nickle and dime you for evvvvverything. Like even having a little table with head coverings on them for the men (jewish wedding) they have to charge you for everything, so annoying.

@@mazarin CONGRATS!!  Omg...this resort is amazing.  My date is April 10, 2015.  When is yours??

Did anyone research airbrush make up artists?  I came across one, Dahena Buhaya, and though her resume is fantastic, she is expensive.

As for non-Lomas vendors that we are using, we chose Disco Movil for our DJ and Pixan for our photo/video.  Both companies cut us a break on price bc of the OUTRAGEOUS outside vendor fee.  So, it ends up evening out.  It was very cool of them to do so.  Since Lomas works with a lot of different DJs, there was no way to read reviews on the one that would be assigned to you, so we decided to use an outside DJ, with good reviews.

As for Pixan, there packages for video/photos were great.  Just what we were looking for.

If anyone has pics from their recent wedding, PLEASE share.  I'm dying to get an idea of what the Sky deck ceremony and garden reception will look like.

Thanks so much!

Happy Planning

@@cgcabezas our date's April 20th. :) happy planning :)

When are you planning to send out your save the date and/or invitation cards?

Our guest are supposed to put down $200 deposit by July 1st. I have a feeling it's way too early to send out invited but i don't know how to get them to put down their deposits without actually sending out invites. May I ask how you're doing it?

do your guests require to secure their spot with a deposit?

As far as vendors or hair stylists, I haven't started looking yet. I'm focused on invites for now...it sounds like it's easier to plan a destination wedding but i find it as much work :D

@@mazarin Ten days after mine!! yay!! Maybe we'll get to meet in passing. I think we fly home on the Monday before your wedding.

Anyhow...

I sent save the date one year in advance. But before that, we put down the deposit for everyone. Well, at least for 20 rooms. Then as guests book, they will reimburse us or put that towards our room. Yes, its way too soon to send invites. I'm going to send invites right after New Years. So it doesn't get mixed up with Christmas mail and it still give people plenty of time to book. I think everyone is going to be booked by then, but if not - its a great reminder. Are you using DestinationWedding.com? That what we're doing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
